Hello, everyone. I have been new to the list for about two weeks now.

A friend told me about this list after I wrote in detail of an arthritis

flare up that almost sent me to the emergency room for a pain killer. I

have osteo arthritis in my hips, knees and back and high blood pressure.

I am currently taking meds for both, and paxil for depression. I

consume a fair amount of Zantac for my stomach. My back hurts constantly

and limits my abilities. Of course, that makes sleeping hard, too, so I

tend to be tired all the time and get headaches. After getting my blood

pressure under control and eliminating milk products, though, I have not

had a migraine in over a year.

Some people think I am a hypochondriac, others think I am too young to

feel so rotten. Most are just sick of listening to me say, " I ache, " or

" my back hurts. " After reading the many posts here, I KNOW you will not

react that way.

thanks for giving me a place to be.

Peace,

Penny

Hi everyone, I am new too. Penny I know how you feel..... I will be 38

tomorrow and have been DX with FMS/CFS/MPS/RLS and have arthritis on my entire

right side. Recently though, I have been going through extensive testing at

the Cancer Center for abnormal red blood cells. Has anyone else had a problem

with macrocytosis? Last week they took bone marrow (ouch). Talk about back

hurting! So far all my tests have came back normal. I am not anemic and I

don't drink alcohol. I recently had a MRI done on my lower back because of

chronic pain there and in my right leg. It showed a tiny bulge at L-5S-1 and

degenerative disks....and also mild arthritis. The pain center is wanting me

to start a patch called Duragesic which is also Fentanyl Transdermal. Has

anyone else used this? If so, has it helped? Side effects etc...??? I have

looked it up on the net. It seems to be a pretty potent narcotic. I would

like to talk with someone who has tried this for pain before I start it. I

should get my results back on the bone marrow test this Tuesday 5/19/98. I am

like you Penny.....I hurt all the time and it is real! I still hate to

complain. I am hoping this patch will be the answer for me. I have been on

Lotab for a long time and worry about damage to my organs. I have also built

up a high tolerance to the med. I am very frustrated with the medical

profession right now, but that is another story. Thanks in advance to all who

respond to this.
