i'd love to, but im still sick. maybe i'll catch up with you in a few

more days.

i havent gotten any excercise in 5 days and it sucks. at least the

diet is going well, i have no appetite, so i am forcing myself to eat

3 small good healthy meals a day

how about just sending us all a report? that's what i was doing, it

was really helpful to feel accountable to somebody. of course i have

to give most of the credit to my neighbor who doesnt like to excercise

alone so she was coming and getting me, without her i probably would

have only excerices every other day.

good walking!

Yes, you're right! I run 5K races and the distance equals 3.1 miles.

that is a pretty big goal. when i started excercising again i decided

not to pin msyelf in on any numerical goals because i was always

disapointing myself.

so i just said i'd walk 1 time around the block and more if i felt up

to another lap after I finished. I did only as many minutes on the

ellipitcal as I felt up to and I only did as many sets on the weight

training until it started hurting.

Then I collected that info and made it my 'base' and then kept seeking

to increase those amounts until i reached a more 'normal' routine.

It felt a lot better than saying i was going to do a certain hike and

then have to turn around half way, or say i was going to do a 30

minute work out and then tucker out after 20. That's what happened to

me last time and I got really discouraged. Of course the fact that my

shoes didnt fit right didnt help either.

Of course now i do have a standard and it does help motivate me now

that i know I can accomplish that goal.

> wow. 3 miles to start with might be a bit much. i know for me, i

gotta start shorter distances and work up. i was just reading about a

guy who started walking in the pool for 20 minutes at a time. he built

up to 21 minutes and then up from there. after changing his eating

habits and building up his exercise, he'd dropped from 600 pounds to 175.

When I started swimming in the pool four years ago, all I could do was about 3 to 5 lenghts of the pool and the remainder of the 30 minutes was used up by treading water in the deep end corner out of the way. It took about six months before I could swim the front crawl for the full 30 minutes. Then I tried to swim 600 meters(24 lenghts of the pool) in 16 minutes, I gradually came down to 19 or 18 miutes but could not get lower. So I started a different strategy by setting a goal of 1200 meters in 40 minutes which I slowly took about another 3 or 4 months to achieve. Eventuall I reached a 40 minute time swimming 1200 meters( 48 lengths of the pool). But could never get the first 600 meters done in the 16 minutes. Then I dropped off to 45 minutes for 1200 meters ( 48 lenghts of the pool) I devised another strategy to increase my lengths again, adding two at a time> I got to 52 to 54 lengths in about 50 minutes, Then I realized I was too

old and a bit over weight to ever do the original goal of 600 meters(24 lenghts of the pool) in 16 minutes. I accepted myself as a front crawl swimmer doing 48 to 50 lenghts( 1200 meters) in 45 to 50 minutes. I eventually realized I had set my goal too high for my age and weight and working a 40 hour per week job also. In other words "accepting me as I am in the here and now". Life gets simple if a person accepts themselves as the way they are today with a view to change it to a realsitic goal knowing our strengths and weakness. We have both, weakness and strenght. regards - Billspamthekat wrote: that is a pretty big goal. when i started excercising again i decidednot to pin msyelf

Carl,

In the yogurt shake you mentioned, how much of each ingredient do you use. I have to do a "cooking project" in my son's class soon and I want to do something healthy and easy and this sounds like just the thing.

Thanks,

You're right and one of my shortcomings is that I let my computer run my

life and I give in to it an I don't get any work done around the house and

can't get any business going when I'm guled to the tube. Maybe we should

give the webmaster a break and log off for a while and get something done.

I still have to eat breakfast. TC Carl in Hamilton O & O TTYS.

I love more and more this group!! Now we're talking about dogs.... one of my favorite subjects!!! I have 10 dogs..... and only one lab... a beautiful black female named Carlotita (alias "Lottie") that isn't very smart but fills my heart with love and joy. I only have one chance to buy a lab, and it was the best investment I've ever made!!
