Guest guest
Let's see, got up this morning to another smoky fire. Mike -- Well, Dad, I thought your BIG THREAT was tongue-in-cheek. A little like my admission to my lowly Tai Kwon Do status. I got from your admonitions to us that we should drop the thread from the list, take it elsewhere or something... I concur with that, with the caveat that the ISSUES raised in it do have a place on the list. My response to the thread has been that the manner of it, the tone of it, was not helpful. Maybe I'm dense, but I didn't read the Big Foot as entirely patriarchal... and, friends, if MY hackles didn't rise???? Mr Mutt -- glad to get some more of your fun. And I'm with you on wanting to entice back. The door always swings both ways. Rick -- thanks for the Yeats. Had been thinking of that poem last night. One of the great ones. (Yeats is one of the poets whose work I read all the time.) Gwen -- I always appreciate your soul and your sensitivity. I thought your lovely post on the issue some days ago was going to be the end of it and got upset when it wasn't. Annette -- You can come out of the corner. Please. Now about Chat. There's chat and then there's chat. And remember we are in cyberspace where the word has a special connotation as a virtual room where people talk, and talk and talk and talk. I'm sure we have all been to at least one and can understand why Mike would use the word in a somewhat perjorative sense. Mostly chat rooms are trivial, superficial, and can also get downright nasty. At least that's my take on it. I think, to use the Pirate metaphor again -- we need to get back on the ship and row to where we can hoist sail, as some on this list are attempting. The vessel is becalmed in this backwater. As for the Jung not spoken here... I concur with whomever it was who said we assume we are working out, practicing (if you will), Jungian ideas... That's been my feeling. I joined this list partly to learn more about Jung, and then got hooked on the people and the climate. In a sense, what we write to each other is coming through our individual Jung-filter. In that sense, it is *Jungian.* On to the New Year. The wheel turns. We are still here with our clocks and beans that cook better soaked. I am grateful to be a part of this gang of Pirates.
