Guest guest
I am definitely interested in the scale and materials for visits information too, so please share on the list! : )Ginger Chun, LLLL, IBCLCPostpartum Doula, Breastfeeding Educator, Infant Massage Instructor www.thenurturedcenter.comAccredited Breastfeeding Counselor, La Leche League USAHappiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony -- Mahatma Gandhi I am new to this group and from what I have been reading so far, I feel like this is going to be an invaluable resource as I grow in my private practice. So, being that I'm new, I apologize in advance if my questions seem redundant. However, I have some basic questions about being a LC, and although I'm reading " The Lactation Consultant In Private Practice " , some specific topics still arise that the book can't answer. To start with, I live in NJ and I was wondering if there are any LCs in my general area that can share what they charge for an initial visit and assessment? Can any body recommend a good scale to take with me on my visits? Does anyone have any suggestions on what they have consider to be the key supplies to bring with you on your visits? Thanks so much for your help! Warmly, Tara RN, IBCLC, MOM
Guest guest
I have gone up and down with my cost to find what works best and have settled on $80 plus supplies. I live in SW Ohio and that’s the average PPLC fee. I know many PPLC’s charge more and include the supplies, but I find that some people don’t need the supplies and many people can’t afford it. Many LC’s on this list charge $200 plus for a consultation. I’m not sure about New Jersey.I bring a scale, Hospital grade breastpump and kit, syringes, gloves, nipple cream, SNS, exam gloves, Nipple shields and shells, larger pump shields, herbal galactogogues, written careplans and addresses/contact info for local CST’s, chiro’s ect. Most of the LCs on this list use Tanita. I use Seca and have two Seca 374 and one Seca 728. I bought two of them refurbished to cut costs. The 728 will measure down to 2gm and the 374 will measure down to 5gm. I also have two trending scales as back-ups and for purchase for long term issues. They measure down to 1/2oz. I rent my scales at $30/mo which is why I have 5 scales. I have had them all out at one time!HTH,June , RN, IBCLCwww.cherishthebaby.com From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Ginger ChunSent: Monday, February 20, 2012 1:48 PMTo: Subject: Re: How much to charge for initial visits in and around New Jersey?
