Guest guest
Good morning all I have permission to post. I am supporting a mom whose 10 month old has been striking for several weeks. We have gotten him back to the point where he will be near her breast again, and will even put his mouth on her breast, but he refuses to latch or suck. We've tried every gadget I know of to try and entice him to latch, but everything we've tried he's treated as a new toy. Super cute, but not exactly what we're going for. He's getting milk via bottle, and parents are using bottle-feeding-to-reinforce-breastfeeding techniques. He does not comfort suck, and mom hasn't had any luck with sleepy-nursing, or co-bathing. She describes it as " it's like he's forgotten how to latch. " Mom is doing as much skin to skin as she can, and offering the breast often, but this kiddo is busy doing other stuff. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
