Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if anyones children MDS or not got any of their teeth

extremely late. Ariel is 9 1/2 and we are still waiting for her 6

year old molars? Was anyones child missing any adult teeth? She got

the ones on the bottom over a year ago and the ones on top are no

where to be seen.

Thanks alot for the help

Mom to Ariel 9 and the twins 4 wait and I cant forget

too 19

HOPE,

Theres also another test for the thyroid other than T4 and TSH and thats TRH.

From my understanding T4 checks the levels the tyroid is emitting, TSH

checks levels between the thyroid and the pituatary, and TRH checks levels

between

the brain and the pituatary. The TRH test is somewhat envolved and requires

labs being drawn at different intervals I half hour. The TRH test can see a

problem before the TSH or the T4. Im not a doctor but Ariels Endocrinologist is

also a Genetisist. He really seems to know his stuff.

Hope,

First of all, I think that it was said that kids with

Ds can have late teeth eruption. I am pretty sure that

studies were done on this.

Second, when Tim was having thyroid problems, his

levels were just at the low level of normal. They

would give him medication and when they checked it

again and his levels were normal they would take him

off the meds! We went back and forth this way a few

times till finally a doctor said that he had to stay

on it. I was told by someone(cant remember who) that

thyroid levels can show up different in persons with

Ds than a person without Ds. Since the levels are

different, and a doctor does the check and compares it

to a non-ds level, then they may think it is normal

when it is not.

There are 2 tests done to show thyroid levels in a

person with Ds. The tests are called T4 and TSH. These

are the recommended tests for someone with Ds.

Hope this helps.

's teeth have been extremely late coming in. I

have been really

worried about it. She is 19 months and her two bottom

front teeth just

broke the skin. Another thing is they are so tiny.

Does anyone else's

children have really small teeth? I ran across an

article linking late

tooth eruption and hypothyroid. The ped totally blew

it off saying she

had never heard of the connection but just because she

hasn't heard of

it doesn't mean it isn't so. Gee. I mean it makes

sense if you think

about it. has other symptoms of hypo too but we

have had it

tested twice in the last six months and her doc is

satisfied w/the

results. Mom is not. The first draw revealed a

slightly high T4 and Free

Thyroxin (sp?) Index. The second draw everything was

within that lab's

range. Has anyone ever experienced this with either

yourself or your

child? No clinical evidence but symptoms are present?
