Treat Mom: Diflucan (fluconazole) 400 mg orally day one followed by 200mg perday for 28 days. Then 150 mg/week prophylaxis to prevent recurrence.2. Treat baby: Diflucan (fluconazole) suspension: 6mg/kg kg oral suspension via dropper first dose followed by 3 mg/kg/day for two weeks.3. Use HOT washer and HOT dryer4. Iron bra daily to kill yeast if bra cannot be washed5. Add one cup vinegar to wash6. Be vigilant about handwashing after contacting breast, diaper changes. Use paper towels to dry hands, not shared towels.7. Use paper towels as changing pad so it can be thrown away each change.8. Boil any plastic coming in contact with breast or baby's mouth daily (cover with water, bring to boil, boil 5 min) such as pump parts, any bottles, etc.9. If still recurrent, consider treating Dad: Diflucan (fluconazole) 400 mg orally day one followed by 200mg perday for 28 days. Guest guest
Hi Marie, Are you finding dr that will give that much diflucan? I'm having a hard time just getting the dr to 2 weeks at 100mg. Is there research I can send with moms. I too am working with a mom who within 3 days of stopped the diflucan the thrush is back. She is doing everything else On the list except nystatin for the babe and number 9. Warmly Elaine Rose IBCLC Minnesota > > Hi Jaye > 1.
