Guest guest
We know sugar feeds yeast. What about xyletol? Or stevia? Other than yeast, could they have any other negative effects? Thank you for any help!
Guest guest
> We know sugar feeds yeast. What about xyletol? Or stevia? Xylitol causes loose bowel movements in some people. It works best if you start with a little so that your system can get used to it. Xylitol is good for baking because it can be used 1:1 for sugar. It's a little less sweet than sugar. Stevia is weird. It's great for some stuff, like sweetening cold drinks (leomonade, cranberry juice, iced tea, etc.). But IMO, it's *really* gross if you use too much. It works best for things that just need a little bit of sweetening. It cannot be used 1:1 for sugar; in most cases a baking recipe has to be totally reworked if stevia is used. > Other than yeast, could they have any other negative effects? Neither stevia nor xylitol are yeast feeders. Lynne
