Hi all

I was instructed to take my dressings off after 5 days. The little

incisions are now totally healed. However the bigger incision has

healed well one end but the other end the bits don't meet so well

and is sitting a little proud. So the wound is still raw looking.

I noticed this evening a yellowish discharge - there is no redness

around the wound and it's not hot. What do I do? Should I leave it

uncovered, or cover it up? Betadine or something?

Besides that I have the biggest swollen tummy. I have been having

benefibre every day.

Is this all nothing to worry about - a small weepy cut that will

heal in time and a tummy that will deflate once on the loo. Or do I

have all the symptoms of Golden Staph????????? LOL

I know, if all else fails phone your doctor.

Interested to hear anyone thoughts.

Is the swollen belly from too much benefibre? I am not sure about this one. Could be just wind that will be expelled. If you are feeling uncomfy, I would maybe go easy on the benefibre for a while and settle for some warm drinks like peppermint tea, or even hot water with a splash of lemon juice? Not sure here. Re the wound - is it a thick discharge or can you see through it as in is it serousy? Keep it clean and I would cover it once it is clean - both to save your clothes from getting stained and to stop the wound from catching or rubbing on anything. Certainly if it gets red or hot, you need to see the man of incisions. Bev

Hi Lorraine,

A few hiccups along the way.

Personally after my operation I got an infection on the larger cut where the port is. When my doctor seen it and I was laying down , he did not like the look of it and the bloodie idiot without telling me what he was going to do he took something which must have been like a razor blade and made a little inscision which released the discharge of puss and the rubbish underneath. He told me whilst in the shower to squeeze tightly around that area to release the pussiness and rubbish which had caused the infection. Additionally, he also put my on antiobiotics. I must admit the hot shower and squeezing around the infected area with a good scrub did get rid of the infection.

Additionally I must admit I did have to use a couple of times a supposotory .

So what can I say, hot shower, squeezing of the discharge to release the rubbish and then supposotory. If the above fails, definatley see your doctor before the discharge gets worse.

Hope all works out.

Luv Mimi
