Hello!

I take aspirin 85mg for a clotting disorder (actually, I have the gene, but I

tend to bleed/bruise, not clot). Anyway, I take it " just in case " to prevent

clots during pregnancy (though I've never had one). I do so preconception and in

pregnancy, but I usually stop it while nursing a young child (under 2 years of

age). That was of my own doing.

The concern with aspirin is Reye's Syndrome if the baby/child has a fever and is

also exposed to aspirin. This goes for all children through adolescence.

However, Reye's Syndrome can happen without aspirin exposure also. It is very

rare, either way.

Dr. Hale, in an online 2010 forum, states that low dose is probably fine (and

that was in reference to a NICU baby) but that regular dose (325mg) was not

ideal. He says to stop the aspirin for a few days IF the child is ill,

specifically with a fever. The dose you are referring to (100mg) is likely also

considered a low dose.

Hope that helps.
