Guest guest
If I recall I don't think their new crock pots had lead in the clay. It was strictly the older model. After throwing my old one away, I purchased a new one and again made a phone call with the model number, etc. This one I was told didn't have lead in it. I agree...the crock pot is the way to go when making stock.
Guest guest
(and others), I have a Rival crock pot. I called Rival. The woman called me back and told me that their crock pots are independently tested ... blah blah blah ... This sounded to me like they have lead in their pots. So, I asked her directly, " Does my crockpot have lead or cadmium in it? " She's going to research this and get back to me. So, my question is, what is a good safe alternative to my beloved crock pot? I absolutely love making meat/bone broths by slow cooking in my crock pot? I don't think I'd be comfortable slow cooking on the stove or in the oven. Are there any crock pots out there known to be metal free? Thanks, Sol > I just threw away a crock pot by Rival (I think that was the brand). I > called them and gave them all the pertinent info about it. Guest guest
Sol, I slow cook on my stove all the time. My crock pot wasn't big enough for the stews I make, so I switched to my stainless steel pot, and cook all my broths 24 hours. Never had a problem. Guest guest
, What's the brand and model you dumped (if you still have the info?) And what brand/model did you buy? I have a Rival 4 quart crock pot. Model 3355. Thanks, Sol > If I recall I don't think their new crock pots had lead in the clay. It was > strictly the older model. Guest guest
, how old was the crock pot you got rid of? I just replaced one that was 13 years old with a new model (both Rival brand), I wonder if I need to worry about the old one. I'm glad to hear the new ones are lead-free, I hope we can trust what they say. Guest guest
I wish I could remember. I think it was a Rival that I dumped. I have a couple WestBend ones now. Supposedly the new regulations don't allow lead in the more current models. Who really knows though...If you could find one with a stainless liner that would be the ticket!
