Guest guest
This is something I would like to know as well. What causes genital anesthesia and lack of sensation. I can get hard (besides the head of penis) with physical stimulation but the genital numbness is the worst part. There really is no point in getting an erection if there is no feeling or pleasure, it's just annoying. I can have sex but I have turned it down so many times because why do it if I can't feel it? I feel like I'm "taking one for the team" by giving pleasure to a woman and I can't feel it. It feels no different than using my finger on her. Even in my hands I can't feel things as well. I feel like my penis and body have been given a shot of Novocaine or that I'm wearing a condom. It sounds crazy to anyone that hasn't experienced it so not many people can really relate. I think my Dr. thinks I'm crazy or bsing. When I say "Dr. my genitals are numb" he just looks at me like I'm from another planet or something. Guest guest
I can't say I have no sensation at all. I can feel an ejaculation but it's not pleasurable. Also, when I urinate it feels different. It's hard to explain, but even during urination it feels different. I can feel the urine coming up from my bladder through the tubes and I never noticed this feeling before. It's too weird of a feeling to explain. The best way I can describe it is a "hollow" feeling during urination and ejaculation, like someone else is getting the pleasure. It makes me feel weird. Also, I don't get an erection when I have to urinate badly anymore no matter how bad I have to go. I used to get erections when I had to urinate. The only way I know I have to urinate now is the pressure in my abdomen and bladder.
Guest guest
Hi Docters look at any patient strange when there faced with a ''Challenge'' and must use there brains to work outside the box. However now a days Most docters are stupid and are pharmacutical drug runners. Most Docters are only good at working with in the system and are not smart enough to improvise and try to see knew ideas . Docters always relate to statistics which is fine, however they should relate to statictics and the patient as a unique different person, because everyone is different and should be given the treatment best for ''THEM'' . Now Docters give '' YOU THE PATIENT'' whats best for SOMEONE else, you're a statistic that should be treated they way someone else got treated becaue you ''may'' related to them , but if you don't relate ''which is normal'' you're fucked. Great bullshit ''fast food'' in and out system $$$. More money , in and out sessions, ignore the truth and follow the system , promote drugs, easy lazy way out , instead of treating a person the right way which takes to long and will cost them more money. The medical system works like a fast food resto. > > This is something I would like to know as well. What causes genital anesthesia and lack of sensation. Guest guest
That's very interesting, . It's very different for me. When I first told a doctor I can't feel anything when I ejaculate (in fact I often am unaware I have ejaculated until I see or feel the .. evidence .. as it were), he asked me if I was numb down there and I said no. I still have all the same sensation as before, and in fact I can *definitely* feel myself urinating. I just don't feel myself ejaculating. Urinating feels no different for me now from how it ever felt. And it's about a million times more pleasurable than ejaculating. Hell. SNEEZING is more pleasurable than ejaculating. So it's very interesting that you have ejaculatory anhedonia and ALSO have different sensation with urinating from how you felt before. This suggests to me that there may be multiple different causes. > > I can't say I have no sensation at all. I can feel an ejaculation but it's not pleasurable. Guest guest
I have that same numbness, ejaculation is just ejaculation, feels like a good piss , My dick is no longer really injoyable to touch. all I have is a low sex drive at best with no outlet. I also feel nothing when I urinate from the pee hole lol , used to get a feeling when it came out, now nothing. It really sucks and I wonder if it's because serotonin is still to high considerinG i don't have much anxiety like i used to. > > I can't say I have no sensation at all. Guest guest
hi I think PSSD varies considerably with everyone. See you don't know when you're ejaculating right , when I ejaculate I have some feeling however it has been so so so so so blunted and diminished. The Orgasm is basically a muted 2 on 10 orgasm . I also have the genital numbness and numbness on skin around my body like a few others. I can obtain erections however what are they good for with little sensation. > > > > I can't say I have no sensation at all. I can feel an ejaculation but it's not pleasurable. Guest guest
What's depressing, ? The multitude of changes? I think the primary change is probably a decrease in SERT transporter gene expression with chronic SSRI use, and the other changes are secondary. Guest guest
What's depressing is that he makes it sound irreversible. Using verbs like " destroy " . Talking about changing gene expression, and so forth. His description fits my symptoms extremely well, and fits with the fact that I haven't recovered at *ALL* 9 months after going off the celexa. But I keep hoping that I will eventually improve. Even a little improvement would be welcome. Getting 10 out of 10 orgasms back would be nice, but I'd settle for a 1 or 2 instead of a literal 0. The idea that something has been destroyed or genetically changed is very very depressing. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I wonder if there is any Docter, Neuroscientist etc that know the reason/theory why these drugs cause the awful loss of sensation ''numbness'' in the genitals and skin, what is the mechanism of action. Guest guest
I don't think he should use the word " destroy " , and that's an example of his poor terminology. I think physical changes caused by SSRIs are minor. The epigenetic gene expression changes I suspect are real, but not irreversible. Guest guest
I was a 1 or 2 on the " orgasm scale " a few years ago but I'm about 5 or 6 now. Guest guest
Without a oxytocin release this pretty much means we can't call in love, in my opinion. I know I can't. I can try my hardest to love a woman and know I "should" love her but deep down I know I don't feel really have the love emotion anymore. And also with our dopamine receptors burned out. This is feels like a bad dream that I wish I could wake up from.
Guest guest
I haven't improved in 7 months since I stopped Zoloft. One thing I have read is that some meth users get "meth dick" after years of use and can't get it up because their dopamine has been burned up by the drug, but around the 18 month mark of stopping meth 80% of their Serotonin is restored and improved sexual functioning. I can only hold onto hope something similar happens to me.
Guest guest
I think chronic SSRI use downregulates the expression of the SERT gene, which results in high serotonin levels even when you're off the drug. In terms of dopamine, SSRIs may increase expression of the dopamine transporter, which results in lower dopamine levels. The mechanism would be different to meth abuse. > > I haven't improved in 7 months since I stopped Zoloft. Guest guest
Would the high serotonin (from low SERT) cause increased prolactin levels (and thus lower dopamine) ? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I wonder if there is any Docter, Neuroscientist etc that know the reason/theory why these drugs cause the awful loss of sensation ''numbness'' in the genitals and skin, what is the mechanism of action. Guest guest
I'm not aware of inositol doing anything to SERT. But it may affect serotonin metabolism through some other mechanism. I would be careful with it. It doesn't help everyone and can make things worse sometimes. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I wonder if there is any Docter, Neuroscientist etc that know the reason/theory why these drugs cause the awful loss of sensation ''numbness'' in the genitals and skin, what is the mechanism of action. Guest guest
Maybe. I think SSRIs also increase the dopamine transporter (DAT) so you have more dopamine being cleared from the synapse. In other words, the opposite of what happens to serotonin. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I wonder if there is any Docter, Neuroscientist etc that > know the reason/theory why these drugs cause the awful loss of sensation > ''numbness'' in the genitals and skin, what is the mechanism of action. > Can low testosterone cause numbness in the genitals and in other areas > of the body. Guest guest
As I said, I had a testosterone test that came back 458 ng/dl which is the normal levels for a 85 year old man I have read online. Normal testosterone level for my age 26 is around 700-900 ng/dl. I just got this letter in the mail from my Dr. I didn't even get the actual test back, just a letter. I had to ask the lady on the phone the actual results of my test.Dear , The blood work shows that your testosterone level is normal. Overall, I was quite pleased. Let's see you back in here in two months and see how you're doing. Sincerely,Dr. EllisGee, Thanks Doc. I get to come back in 2 months to tell you how I'm doing. Guest guest
You know, the fact is that so little is currently understood about the brain that there is no way that Dr. Lin can really be accurate about this. He may have some hunches but I would take this as an impressionistic read on things. Also genes that have been switched one way can switch back the other way, theoretically - and things that have been damaged (even 'destroyed') can regenerate. I am not saying this is what will or won't happen... But listening to Dr. Lin I would just focus on what he might be able to offer that could help. A nudge in the right direction could possibly set in motion other positive changes, slowly or possibly quickly in some cases. I know there are members who had genital anesthesia reverse. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I wonder if there is any Docter, Neuroscientist etc that know the reason/theory why these drugs cause the awful loss of sensation ''numbness'' in the genitals and skin, what is the mechanism of action.
