Guest guest
From: Krystyna Krzyzak MNIMH, North Devon Yesterday's Watchdog Healthcheck on BBC1 mentioned the use of Tagetes (French marigold) as being effective for reducing the pain and swelling of bunions. Other than showing a bunion being poulticed with a brown paste, no other information was given. Does anyone have further info on this subject. Cheers, Krystyna

I went to him for 3 sessions for a stubborn patch of hard skin on the sole of my foot, his mix works. He worked at a London Hospital and had good results. His Looooong garden was full of Calendula (note diff species) a poultice of flower petals (hard centre removed) macerated in oil was applied and covered this need to be kept in place for one week (had to wash between toes but otherwise keep foot dry. I dont know if this is the same one. I will try and find his name and address (he may have moved). > >
Guest guest
<use of Tagetes(French marigold) as being effective for reducing the pain and swelling of bunions.> Hi, Krystyna, Here's Health Feb 1983 had an article on Mr Taufiq Khan, a homeopath who specialises in chiropody, who in 1975 found that Tagetes helped a number of foot problems. He grew 21 varieties to find out which worked best - Tagetes erecta harvested in July. He made a mash of whole plant - rootd, leaves, stems, flowers seeds. Some used to make a tincture, oil and cream (less potent). The mash is used as a poultice. He decided that the mash inhibits granulation. He did a pilot study with 100 patients who had the same problem on both feet so he could use one foot as a control. Photos showed dramatic improvement where Tagetes used, after 4 days. he also uses a combination of Tagetes and Ruta which helps with inflammation of the bursa in a bunion. He uses the herb for warts, athletes foot, papillomata, ingrown, enlarged thickened toenails, nail fungi, nail psoriasis, onychomycosis, bunions, corns, callouses. In 1980 he set up the Marigold clinic at St Pancras hsopital, under the Hampstead health authority. Treatment described for corns and calluses involved scraping down calluses and removing corns. Area wiped with Tagetes tincture, pad with hole in middle placed over callus area and hole filled with fresh T. mash, covered with plaster and left for a week. Weekly visits to repeat. Corns treated with paste if very deep, otherwise T. infused oil applied regularly. Clear with 4 weeks of treatment. This clinic was set up a long time ago - I don't know if it's still running or if Mr Kahn is still about. Guest guest
From Hedley, Not sure if it is the same person but there is a marigold foot clinic at the Royal Homeopathic Hospital in London. Another useful application for bunions is a glycerite of Greater Celandine. This takes the pain away and softens the hard skin. Love to all from

Would Celandine work as a salve, too? And if so, would dried herb do? Cheers Henriette -- hetta@...
