Guest guest
Are you taking oral prednisone as well ? I also take flovent 220*4 and take 60-80 milligrams oral prednisone daily for several months each year - I ALWAYS have a problem with Thrush then too - I also have mild to severe Cushing's syndrome side effects from the prednisone( chronic mild from the high dose inhaled steroids and severe the higher the oral dose goes ) and I think that this is a part of that - check with your pulmonologist and if you are not using a spacer to take the flovent switch to one - it helps ! Another possible problem could be the use of a nasal steroid inhaler dose daily in addition to the high dose asthma inhaler being just too much prednisone for your body to handle - I had to drop it from my daily meds in order to finally get rid of the thrush problem in between bouts of oral prednisone . good luck ! teresa Re: steroid inhalers > From: SuezC@... > > In a message dated 10/18/1999 12:59:32 PM Eastern Daylight Time, > rbmm@... writes: > > << > I have been taking Flovent 250 4puffs twice a day for some time now. > Despite rinsing well after each use I am getting persistant thrush > infections. Guest guest
Rinsing is good but you may also need to drink some water or another fluid too! My son gets thrush a lot with many of his meds, esp. flovent- but since following meds with water or other fluid he has been fine. I also have been making him brush and rinse with mouthwash for 2 minutes before bed. This has been a real great help!! Archer
Guest guest
: Yes I am often on oral steroids as well. I, too, stopped the nasal inhaler. This helped a bit. My respirologist contends however that thorough rinsing should be sufficient to deal with the thrush. We continue to debate that one. Guest guest
Bruce - I'm lucky that my md actually has asthma himself - so he knows first hand what the meds are like - no matter how much I rinse there or with what when the oral dose gets high I like you , get thrush too ! YUCK teresa > > > : > > Yes I am often on oral steroids as well. I, too, stopped the nasal inhaler. > This helped a bit. Guest guest
Hi! I hate oral steriods. I am on Pulmicort twice a day now. But this is new. I used to be on Asmacort...it never bothered me. I don't really know what thrush is tho'.....maybe that's why I don't like the Pulmicort........Now I am on a nebulizer. Just when I think I am beginning to feel better, I get the " flu " and here we go again. rick/teresa mattson wrote: > > > Bruce - I'm lucky that my md actually has asthma himself - so he knows first > hand what the meds are like - no matter how much I rinse there or with what > when the oral dose gets high I like you , get thrush too ! > YUCK > teresa > > > > > > > : > > > > Yes I am often on oral steroids as well.
