Guest guest
I don't have asthma either, but have worked with several patients that have. Have you ever thought of an air purification system for your house or room that your daughter stays in most of the time? If you want more information on the system I know about and any testimonials, I would be glad to send them to you. I am an RN and have worked almost all of my life with patients with Resp and asthma patients. Please consider this option it has helped thousands of patients with the above mentions problems. Guest guest
Hi Rayna and fellow asthmatics, I should have found this list sooner...Before my last visit to the Hospital. I am looking forward to getting to know you and letting you know me. Kathy L'Huillier From Wisconsin
Guest guest
I have suffered from asthma since age 24. I discovered I had it one day when I was walking up a flight of stairs and couldn't catch my breath once I reached the top. I have heard that drinking a cup of hot, black coffee is supposed to help calm an attack down. I have done this on several occasions and have found relief from some real bad attacks. I am also on prescription medicine, for the times when coffee doesn't help.

Guest guest
Hi Rayna, My name is Marius and I live in Newcastle South Africa. I have no access to the Internet and have only e-mail at work. I'm subscribing on behalf of my wife who is in hospital at the moment, just out of ICU with a very bad asthma attack. has had asthma from childhood and I have to rush her to hospital on a regular basis. I've had it myself as a child but had my last attack when I was about 13 years old. I've read somewhere that one never " outgrows " asthma and that as you grow older a recurrence is very possible...fact or fallacy? I'm 41 years of age and also have Diabetes (IDDM) my wife is 31. Neither of us smoke, her side of the family are all asthmatics. I hope to be able to contribute in a positive way and also gain some knowledge through this mailing list. Guest guest
Hello...I am new to the Asthma List and I am still quite confused about this disease. My name is Holly and I have a daughter who is 4 1/2 years old and is kind of diagnosed with having asthma. She is a coughing asthmatic. A number of times having her to the doctor or to emergency they find nothing wrong with her. Her lungs are clear and her chest is clear and I find this very confusing and scary at the same time. Does anyone have any further information for me. We do not know what the triggers are but last year it started in mid-August and went through to Dec. We have toren out our carpets in the house and her bedroom. We have joined the Asthma Clinic here in Halifax, Nova Scotia but I still am confused. Is anyone else feeling this way or just me? Comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Holly

Last August I was actually fired from my job because of absenteeism. The corporate doesn't understand how one can miss a day here and a day there because of asthma. I blamed a lot on the ceiling in the room where I worked and I'm beginning to think that had a lot to do with it. My stress level is still high from trying to figure out how I'm going to support myself and so on but my breathing has improved a lot. I had 22 1/2 years on the job. ne
Guest guest
ne, is there no way that you can take the company to court? To me this smacks of victimisation, I'm a diabetic and also go absent quite a lot but will not let the company victimize me because I have a condition that is beyond my control. I'm 41, diabetic on insulin for 5 years, had asthma. My wife gets severe asthma attacks, I have to rush her to hospital quite often. In July she spent 5 days in ICU. Marius Calitz From: SuezC@... Guest guest
My name is . I am 39 years old. I have been diagnosed with asthma since 1988. However, I always had breathing and coughing problems. After a visit with a pulmonary doctor my asthma has been diagnosed from moderate to severe. My current medications are accolate, albuterol, atrovent, serevent, and flovent. My peak flow at its best is 350. My daily seems to be around 300. My last hospital visit occur on July 2. I presented myself with breathing difficulties. At the same time the docs learned via an x-ray that I had pnuemonia. I also have chronic sinusities and bronchities. Guest guest
Hello My name is ...Im 31, have three kids two of which have severe asthma. Mine is basically under control most of the time. I take albuteral, and serevent and also claritan for allergies. My kids both take singulair, vanceril, pulmicort, rhinocort, claritan, & provental. (and we are all on a lot of prednisone) ESP. the last two months we have all done three rounds of antibiotics and two weeks of prednisone! Maybe the cold weather that's coming will do us a favor and get rid of the nasty air. My son has had chronic sinus infections for a year now! I can only hope and pray for a good winter! Welcome.. from Akron! Archer
Guest guest
Hi .....Sounds like you son has a real time with it. I also have chronic sinusities. I have surgery to enlarge my nasal passages. I go to the Cleveland Clinic. Also the same doctor recommended a grossman irrigator which flushes out the nasal passages removing the crud and junk. Has your son ever had a CT of his sinuses? I am hoping for a real cold winter with bunches of snow to clean out the air. But alas that might not happen.
