Forget about buying rice from stores for whom brown rice is not that

important (since when is range fed beef a whole food?)!

You need to purchase your own bulk supply of rice, during the warm months.

Organic brown rice is not only alive, but it also sweet due to the fact

that there are no chemicals used in the soil, on the rice plants, or

during processing.

Because that rice was stripped of it's hull(s) and the air is warm, the

bugs can smell that sweetness.

Unless you want to eat commercial rice (which doesn't attract bugs), you

either have to keep the rice cool, use scented products that deters the

bugs from entering your rice storage area, or keep paddy (unhulled) rice

and hull your rice on demand.

Just trying to keep the bugs away by sealing the storage area or using

pest strips is often a big waste of time.

Organic rice is alive. When it gets warm the bugs aslo become alive - if

it can be siad like that. Living in Norway I have no problems with bugs

in the rice most of the year, but as soon as hot summer days are here

bugs can be found in the rice. That's just how it is...

Does anyone else have issues with the bulk bins at Whole Foods? I'm

constantly getting buggies in my rice. I detest having a pot of rice

going and seeing little buggies rise to the surface (can I admit that a

bug here or there is no biggie...fish it out and move on. But the last

time I had too many to count and the sad truth is they must have hatched

in my jars! I transfer all my items over to glass jars immediately

after shopping so I know the bugs come from WF and not my house).

I've thrown out so much rice. My favorite rice, the brown basmati,

seems to be particularly bad.

Obviously, I've switched to prepackaged for the basmati but I'd rather

not. Besides the packaging itself, there is the issue of the price and

dang...I go through a lot of rice.

I'm giving their bulk brown jasmine rice a try right now...no buggies yet.

I just had a million bugs in the kale they were the kind that I have

found only in my broccoli before. I wrapped it up tight and

returned it. Did you ever complain to WF? It's disgusting

unfortunately it's to be expected do you really rinse your rice and

then soak it before cooking it?

I wouldn't throw out the rice, I'd pack it up and return it to WF!
