Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I'm new to this group and have a ?? I hope someone can answer. I made the baby formula (milk based) today and it came out clumpy. I put everything in the blender and blended on high for a few min. But the coconut oil seems to collect on top of the bottle and will not mix in and after a while the milk seemed to separate. Also the brewers yeast collects at the bottom of the bottle? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I don't have enough breastmilk to allow me to go out for an evening and would like to get this substitute right!!!! Thank you all very much. Guest guest
Hi Irene, Well, I'm glad I made you feel better! I sort of beat myself up for not nursing Seth longer, but he didn't want me and preferred the NTF. Then when I realized he hasn't been sick at all, not even a sniffle, how could I feel badly when he is obviously well nourished. We call him Sumo Seth. He is one big boy and a very happy baby! Guest guest
Hi Kim, Another member of this list mailed me some kefir grains. It is the easiest thing to make, I just pour milk over them and let them set for a day or two in the frig., strain and use. I think there are sources for obtaining kefir in the back of NT too. Guest guest
How many days did you leave it to culture? It usually only takes 1-3 days. I put mine in the refrigerator instead of leaving it out on the counter like some do. Perhaps you let it culture to long out on the counter and why it was so thick. I use the blender to mix all the ingredients for the baby formula together. I usually slightly heat the water needed on the stove and add the beef gelatin and coconut oil to that to dissolve before adding those ingredients to the rest in the blender. Robin <<ooops. I just meant the kefir itself, not the grains. it was just too thick last time. sorry. I will put it in a blender next time. kim >>
