Marie,

Thank you so much for your reply! I'm relieved that my child is not

the only one with symptoms like this. I have LOTS of questions!

How old is your child?

Which neuropsychologist does he see?

Which SSRI is he taking? How long has he been taking it? At what

dosage?

Have you monitored blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, ... that

sort of stuff? (I haven't, but I wish my kid could wear a contraption

that would measure those things for 24 hrs a day for a few days to see

what is happening with them.)

My son began taking Prozac at about age 4yrs. 9months. He is now 5

yrs 5months. We recently switched him to Zoloft. He weighs 41 lbs.

Takes a low dose (about 1/3 of the smallest tablet they make ... which

comes out to about 8mg/day).

We'll give the Zoloft a couple more weeks to get the full effect

before I try anything else at all. So far I've seen good improvement

in stabilizing extreme mood swings, reduction in episodes of weeping

without any discernable cause. But no reduction in his vaso-vagal-ish

episodes (for lack of a better term). Since the Zoloft is helping in

so many other areas, I am hoping that it will help with this, too.

If the Zoloft doesn't help prevent these episodes, I still will be

grateful that it's helping the others and thereby isolating this

" vaso-vagal-ish " problem. Maybe this symptom arises through a

separate neurological pathway not regulated by serotonin/SSRIs?

If the questions I'm asking are too personal for you to feel

comfortable answering them in this public forum, please feel free to

e-mail me privately:

And again, Marie: Many thanks!
