I read my response (re lithium) to your post and it souned really rude -- I sincerely apologize if I came across that way (I usually do not get to post until after midnight so I am at best -- incoherent). I am not sure I understand your post but is it that mercury depletes lithium so when you chelate and if you have lithium in the diet lithium levels will rise? I know a child that become psychotic after a DMSA challenge and a neurologist figured out that the child had been depleted of lithium. Very rare and to the best of my knowledge it only happened with that one kid on another list. They gave the boy lithium and he improved immediately. does not drink municipal water or eat a lot of dark leafy vegetables, so he probably needs lithium any way. But like I said, no way would I want to stop. Thanks for the iodine tip -- we will throw in a few extra drops. VeraGayatri Rampal wrote: Vera just read that lithium is tied to mercury excretion. Don't know if you are chelating, but if you excrete mercury, lithium will show high on a test. If you were low earlier it would mean that you were not supplementing or that it was tied up. Incidentally, lithium and iodine have a see-saw relationship. If you up iodine then lithium will drop, and vice versa, so you kind of have to keep that in balance as

well.Gayatri>> Hi> > I also wanted to post a lithium update. We first tested lithium about 9 months ago and found out that my son had virtually none. We started supplementing with 250 mcgs per day (per the Kirkman website) and saw immediate gains (which were later lost) and then saw nothing in terms of general ASD (socially appropriate) behavior with the only gains being fewer inappropriate meltdowns. We retested in November and got the results back. correct infllections, etc. The gains came with changing the timing not the form (pill to liquid). An example of inappropriate speech:> > Mom: , hi, are you okay?> : "Welllllllllllllllllllll, of course I ammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!" Way to slow, way too long, way too loud.> > Now:> Mom: Hi, how's it going?> : "Great" or "I'm tired."> > So much much better. We will see if the lithium has budged when we test again in February but the point I wanted to emphasize (no matter what the protocol -- assuming it is a supplement) -- if it is not working, try again in smaller more frequent doses for better absorption.> > He also stopped messing his pants again. The first time we started lithium, he immediately started reaching the toilet for BMs -- at age 5.5. He got to a 100% and then slowly regressed along. He also stopped seeing any progress with

socially more appropriate behavior. So we restarted by spreading the dose out and voila -- we got the gains back and they appear to be holding.> > Doing the happy dance --> Vera> Just wanted to pass along.>
