Guest guest
Call me dumb but Why are you using a Herpes Medicine to treat Austism? It just seems odd to me. Maybe I need someone to expalin this type of treatment! What is the reasoning behind it? Thanks Blessings, Safe Hugs, "Kitty"I hope you are all "FLYing".... Guest guest
It’s not just a Herpes medication. It’s an anti-viral. Pamela " Courage is doing what you're afraid to do. Guest guest
In a nutshell - Valtrex is an antiviral that is given to children on the spectrum to suppress the replication of chronic virus' and to help "unlock" heavy metals that are bound into the tissues by these virus'. It is really a complicated issue but this is the cliff notes version.Hope it helps, I believe there is more on the specifics in the files section of the group.NoraCall me dumb butWhy are you using a Herpes Medicine to treat Austism? It just seems odd to me. Guest guest
Many of the ASD kids have high HHV6, HHV1, HHV2, EBV, CMV, etc. titers which are all in the herpes family. Valtrex is used for treating genital herpes (and shingles) but it targets *many* herpes viruses (there are hundreds). My son has very high EBV and HHV6 titers. So yes, there is a *very* good reason behind treating with Valtrex and other anti-virals. Our ped, who does not like biomedical treatments, is actually quite fine with us using Valtrex. You can test titers pretty easily. Cheryl > > Call me dumb but > Why are you using a Herpes Medicine to treat Austism? > It just seems odd to me. Guest guest
And it's not just an antiviral, it's a purine inhibitor and an adenosine modulator. High or low adenosine will block SAH(h) and ultimately slow down methylation. We have so few tools to modulate adenosine and Valrex is one of them. Some researchers have reported up to 30% of kids on the spectrum likely have an adenosine issue. There are no labs that can easily test for adenosine, so IMO the best way to see if Valtrex (or other antiviral therapies work) is to do a trial. - Stan > > It's not just a Herpes medication. Guest guest
she was probably thinking methylcobalamin form of b12 (=mb12). maybe also subcutenuous shots or nasal spray in terms of administration, as opposed to sublingual form, which is thought to not be as effective in autism.
