Guest guest
http://www.endoflife.northwestern.edu/index.cfm I found this link after Ardis died. I was googling " roxynol " as it is the liquid morphine given in nursing homes and hospice. I do not think it is a very good drug, though it is standard now, it's quite a shame because there are some very new stuff that has much fewer side effects than plain ol morephine. I had thought that the hospice nurse was just trying to kill Ardis, using morphine, but after reading things at this site, I learned a lot of stuff about palliative care. One thing that really hit me is something in there that says " you really only get one chance to get it right when a loved one passes away. " I was very stressed, because there were certain people who she didnt want around, and this person(a church buddy)was very persistant. I finally talked her into him coming in to hold her hand and say the lords prayer, but holding true to her wishes, I ushered him out of the room. I felt bad, but I wanted everything to be perfect. It was a lot like the birth of my daughter in reverse. ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Never miss a thing.
