Guest guest
Children have been harmed or killed by some of the advice is Adelle ' books. See this link http://www.quackwatch.org/04ConsumerEducation/davis.html Now, I'm not a huge fan of quackwatch, they tear up things like craniosacral therapy, which helped greatly improve my son's plagiocephaly. But I can verify that the fatal advice on giving potassium for colic is in the copy of " Let's have Healthy Children " that I got on interlibrary loan. Also, there is a lot of information in the book with is terribly outdated. Most doctors are no longer recommending severe limits on maternal weight gain during pregnancy, nor are they prescribing water pills for toxemia. We now can purchase more than 100mcg of Folic acid over the counter. Doctors know that pregnant women need at least 800mcg/day. It was published in 1951, revised copy that I have in hand is 1972. There may be some valuable advise in this book, but I would strongly urge caution. Before following her recommendations, verify safety from another source. Jen <<The best advice I can give you is to get your hands on two books by a woman nutrionist named Adelle . Ms. actually worked with Bernard Rimland in the first ever trial of nutritional testing with B6 and magnesium done with autistic kids. She has two books that are valuable. The first called " Let's Get Well " and another " Let's Have Healthy Children " . You really need both as in the first she breaks down the various organs of the body and tells what is helpful in making each healthy. Although Ms. wrote in the 1960's she was the first to try to becry the upcoming epidemic of ASD kids and she was also one of the first who warned for expectant mothers to take folic acid to prevent birth defects, clearly a woman ahead of her time. Many other things she wrote in the book you will notice have come true or been adopted by mainstream medicine.>>
