My son did get rashes as we increased the dose. He's been off the Valtrex now

for awhile so I can't recall if the rashes faded on their own or if we did

something to help it along. In the past, I've used Aquaphor and/or Sarna

topically and activated charcoal taken far away from other supplements and/or

meds.

Are you washing the blue dye off the pills? Just thinking he could be having a

reaction to the die itself.

Best of luck.

Hi, my daughter started valtrex on 12/11 then got very ill by 12/15

with a virus that was going around (vomiting, diarreah etc). She

couldn't keep anything down so I had to stop giving it to her until

she got better. I restarted the valtrex last night. This morning

about 30 minutes after she took it she got bumps on her feet that she

was itching non-stop - looked like hives. Then her feet got better

and it went to her hands. cleared up after about 3 hours. I gave her

another dose this evening and now she's having the same problem with

her hands again.

Very itchy, red and can't stop scratching and licking them. Anyone

had this happen to them or is this maybe an allergic reaction? We

didn't see any of this when she originally started for the 5 days

before she got sick. Any advice would be appreciated.

>yes, im washing the dye off the pills so it's not that. It's very

weird, not really a rash but much more like hives appearing randomly

on her body but mostly on her hands and feet. I tried getting ahold

of her DAN doc today but of course they're out for the holidays. Do

you think I should stop until I can talk to him?

Timing of reaction sounds suspicious enough for allergy to valtrex, would hold off until hearing from DAN doctor.>yes, im washing the dye off the pills so it's not that. I am no expert but I associate hives with an allergic reaction more than a typical viral rash. I might be tempted to reduce the dose and start again very slowly but I know that kids who have peanut allergy or an allergic reaction to eggs or a vaccine often get hives. It is listed as an allergic reaction. It is so hard to say because most do get viruses when they start Valtrex. Are you seeing any gains with the hives?
