Hello, my name is Amy. I am very happy to have found this group! I have a

doctor's appointment next Wednesday with a new PCM and hope some of you can help

me ask the right questions. I'm very frustrated with my treatment this far and

am hoping this new doctor is either willing to listen and help or send me in the

right direction!!

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's in 2008 and put on Synthroid. Since then I see

an endocrinologist every 3 months. I go in for blood tests a week before every

appointment. Every time I've seen her she has raised my Synthroid. Every 3

months for two years!! The first few months I started to feel a little better

but now I feel worse than ever. I've told her this and she says that's just part

of the disorder and I have to learn to live with it. When I asked her what

exactly Hashimoto's was she gave me a pamphlet. That was it, no explanation.

After doing my own research on the symptoms I've asked her about pain in my

shoulders and hips, my racing heart, insomnia, ect. and she told me it was

unrelated and to see my Primary Care. She blows me off everytime I see her and

just gives me a lab slip for my next visit and a new prescription upping my

dose. In January I asked her if there was another medication option since this

one does not seem to be working and I feel like crap. That seemed to piss her

off and she told me I must have been talking about Aurmor and no it wasn't

available anymore and Synthroid was my only option. So needless to say I am very

frustrated. When I called to make this appointment with my PCM I specifically

told them I needed a long appointment so I am not rushed and I have a whole list

of symptoms I want to discuss with him but what else should I ask? I was so

happy to finally get a diagnosis but now I almost feel hopeless thinking I will

never feel any kind of relief from my symptoms.

Here is the list of symptoms/issues I have, it's long I know, let me know if

some really are unrelated and I will have those addressed separately if I need

to.

*Major chronic fatigue*** my main complaint!

*Insomnia

*shoulder, back, and hip pain- I get extremely stiff and tired. A shopping trip

to the mall knocks me on my ass for two days afterward.

*always cold

*brittle hair and nails, my hair is falling out!

*dry and extremely itchy skin

*weak and shaky hands and fingers

*hands and feet also swell

*digestive issues- back and forth between constipation and diarrhea

*excessive hair on body and face

*agitation, sometimes completely overwhelmed for no reason

*sometimes can't concentrate-sluggish, foggy brain, lol

*kidney pain with no infections or kidney stones

*nausea spells that are worse in the a.m.

*no appetite

*lethargic, no motivations, I want to get things done but can't seem to will

myself to do them and am usually to tired to do it anyway

*dizzy spells

*eye twitching- this one is driving me NUTS!!

*bruise easily, I have bruises everywhere and don't know where they come from

*sudden stabbing pain in muscles, feels like someone stabbing a needle in me and

then it's gone in two seconds

*no sex drive

*constant headaches

*chest pain

*panic attacks

*racing heart

*sudden hunger, feel like I'm starving to death and have to eat something now or

I'm gonna be sick.

Like I said, long list, but I am tired of feeling like crap. Any advice is

greatly appreciated.
