In my humble oppinion, these are scams! Many years

ago, my grandmother wanted to try one of those things

out. It advertised you could make hundreds stuffing

envelopes. We paid the fee to get the " information " .

They sent us a paper that said if you advertise to

make money stuffing envelopes, people send you money

for the information and that is how you make

" hundreds " !

I am sure that there are many legitimate businesses.

If you decide to do this, I would suggest at least

checking the BBB first.

I have received few replies back from these work at home sites.

They all want money. When I asked for more info b/c I wanted to check

them out on BBB. They write back saying their not a member and it

wouldn't show up on there. Haha. It doesn't matter whether or not

your a member your business will still show up.

I looked up one and it was on there and they weren't a member. I went

ahead and reported a few of these sites I found. I just gave BBB

their website b/c there wasn't any info stating city/state they were

in. I told BBB I felt they were scams.

Thanx for the advice,

a

Kristy,

While I am Khia's grandmother to you all on the list. During my work hours

I am the Vice President of the Better Business Bureau (BBB) in Springfield

MO and you are so correct on your advise.

The only person who actually makes any money is the person who placed the

ad. The people who are victimized by this are the elderly, disabled and

parents who need or want to stay home with a child.

The Postal Inspection Service puts thousands of these out of business

yearly, but they just spring up with a new name.

Thanks

Judy Mills, grandmother to Khia, age 7 MDS

Kirsty,

Thanks. Every site I looked at wanted money upfront. I decided not to

even go that route. lol

> Dear a,

> Hi it's Kirsty from Oz here. I don't know about US but here many

people have been taken down by these schemes. Alot of young people

desperate for work have sent money and received nothing in return. My

advice is be very careful and don't pay upfront until you have

something in your hand that can be prooved genuine.

Hello Sally!

Welcome to the group! Your daughter sounds really beautiful and I am

sure you are absolutely right about that! If you check out the photos of

all these great kids with MDS, you see such wonderfully beautiful kids! She

sounds like she is doing very well if she is sitting up on her own at 6

months. Can she sit herself up from laying down? Where do you live? I

think Amelia Charlotte is a lovely name, and the nickname of Millie too! I

look forward to hearing more about your family. I am Barb Martz from

Western Pennsylvania, USA. I have been married to my husband Bob for 16

years, and we have two sons. Our oldest son is 7 1/2 years old and

in the 3rd grade. He is gifted, and that has many challenges for us. Our

" baby " is Jonas who turned two years old on November 1st. He began walking

at 15 months and he is running now. He LOVES to throw things and I can't

wait until summer comes so I can give him a big bucket of balls to throw

outside. All the throwing of balls and toys in the house is a bit rough!

Jonas is saying a few words and signing to us a bit also. We are teaching

him some sign language words to reinforce language for him and to help him

to speak earlier and communicate in the meantime. He understands so much,

and is able to demonstrate to us that he understands by following simple

commands. He loves to laugh with his big brother, and he is doing very well

indeed. He recently mastered backing himself down a flight of stairs. We do

not live in a two story house, and our basement stairs are too dangerous for

him, so we have had to teach him the stairs at other family member's houses.

We have a physical therapist coming to our home, and a oral motor and speech

therapist coming too. They come through the Early Intervention program at

no cost to us. It has been so valuable in helping Jonas be the best he can

be. We also think he is cute as a button and just about the most delightful

fellow we could ever hope to be blessed with. Many blessings to you and

your family!

I am getting a bit fed up with Graham and my relationship with each other and his parents!

He went for counselling today, it is a 10 week course which means he won't be able to come up and see me very often, as i live 90 miles away. I will have to keep driving to his home I'm not that keen on driving,l I have driven a few times to his home just for a few days in between my anxiety course and my dad with dementia being ill. I don't think Graham's parents will be that keen if he wants to drive up to me for a few days, he is disabled but I am too, I get a lot of back pain with scoliosis, am waiting to go to a pain clinic. My dad is in a residential home with dementia so I couldn't stay with Graham 10 weeks, be apart from my dad as i don't know how long he'll stay well for. He has had pneumonia twice and a pin in his hip in the last 8 months!

I am already starting to feel anxious although I have just finished an anxiety course, I seem to fit my life around going to see Graham, there's no one in the family stopping me from going! I think his parents want him there to help them out particularly his mum, she's depressed herself and both Graham and I think she needs counselling herself.

Last year Graham's dad had a foot operation so Graham didn't come up to see me very often as he couldn't leave his parents! I have always left my parents even when my mum was frail, a few months before she died although I didn't really like leaving them, I don't my dad either now he has dementia!

I sometimes think that perhaps Graham should get someone else locally and that we're not meant to be! I think part of the reason he gets anxious and no self esteem is due to his parents attitude, not letting him have a life!

I am supposed to be going to Graham's at the end of this week, I have previously driven with eye infections and stomach upsets.

Sorry for venting but its getting me down, we have been together 5 years and engaged 2 years, I'm trying to make a go of this relationship but every year something seems to crop up so we're apart!

I look forward to your comments

Liz
