I'm 29 and for the past 5 years my libido has died on me. Looking back, I always

suspected it had something to do with fluexentine, but I ignored it. Then I met

a girl, a month or two after I stopped taking it - of course we all know what

happens next - Then it got more chronic, my libido had gone into shock. I was

so tense about sex after this. Because I was always suffering from depression,

I wen't back to my doc who put me on citalopram. They really helped with my

mental state becasue I was having a break down at this point. The girl cheated

on me and my doc insisted my problem was mind over matter. 3 years later I was

refered to a sexologist, she was helpful and reassured me it was nothing

physical and gave me some cialis, which has helped sometimes but not all the

time. I just get so stressed and terrified when it comes to sex now, that I

reckon it's a combination of the ssri's and my stress. It was definitley the

fluexentine that started it off. Sometimes I can get a decent erection but it's

not very often. Sex is painful and embarrising. I've been in love a few times

and I have to walk away becasue I lack sexual feelings. I hope it gets better

and I hope everyone else does too, it's the worst pain I've ever known.

Sorry to hear about your situation. It unfortunately is a common theme among

those of us affected by this.

A couple of thoughts: First, if you are not already doing these things, you

should be getting plenty of exercise, eating a balanced and healthy diet, and

pursuing supportive relationships. Also, there have been a number of good

threads here recently on hormone levels in our bodies and what are the right

levels. Keep an eye out for these and maybe seek out a doctor with specific

experience in sexual issues. And if you can, avoid dumping more drugs into your

body.

I think everyone here understands your pain....

these SSRI's kill your sexlife indeed,

but the only thing to do is continue and get the most out of your life...

I found a girlfriend who doesnt mind my sexual problems, but loves me for who I

am...girls in some way do not seem to have that urge we male (used to) feel.

There have been a few. Maybe you can search the archive for key words 'recovery'

and 'success'.
