Guest guest
Dear all8 Just had a patient back for 2nd visit complaining that she woke with pain in her inner thigh last Friday morning. Patient is 31, and came with insomnia (racing brain), irritability, bad memory, lack of concentration and generally feeling wasn't able to apply herself as she once could. Her BP was 100/60, always had been-even in pregnancy she only made 120/70, dizziness frequently if gets up to quick.. with a FH of low BP/cva's. Had a vein stripped-believe Gt saphenous after damage to femoral vein valve in groin a few yrs ago doing the splits on a pig farm-has been fine since except had same sensation after delivery of last child 10months ago, lasting a few hrs. Past history of high alcohol consumption and glandular fever and 5 months ago fitted with coil impregnated with oestrogen. Gave Verbena 20, Fucus FE 10, Urtica 20, Rosemary 30, Carduus 20, Valeriana 5 and tea for evenings. She took Rx up til Friday morn when pain started, as though had been sleeping awkwardly but much worse, no pins neeedles but like recovery from. Was feeling a lot more capable, calmer and sleeping well, dizziness was reduced and was pleased with how things were going. The following Sunday was the worse day of pain, hot, red patch and whilst swimming felt as though vein was hanging out and flapping in water-raising leg didn't help. Today BP 100/65, pulse 56 no redness/heat/inflamm present, veins visible but no cord felt, bruised like aching behind knee and a lot better than was, no ankle swelling or pain as such. No other changes. Have told her to see GP for diagnoses as I'm not sure and want to be on the safe side. Have I caused this with Rx-would Verbena/Valeriana reduced BP even more-embolism?or is it coincidence? and why can't I see the diagnoses-is it thrombophlebitis/cellulitis any ideas?
