Guest guest
Hi all, My name is Cindee and I live in Reno (Sparks) Nevada I found out I had Chiari in 1999 after a car accident. I was blessed to be diagnosed quickly. I lived with the symptoms for about a year then decided to have surgery in the beginning of 2001 at UC in California. I was able to go back to a fairly normal life excluding rolercoasters and a few other rough activities. I was hiking, walking, riding my bike, ballroom dancing, as well as many other activities. About a year ago, one night after a couple of rough " turney " (a new word i just made up) dances, I felt the headaches and neck pain again. I hadn't a clue that ballroom dancing would be too much but I guess that it was. Ever since then, I have gradually gotten worse. I am back to virtually no exersize and am getting pretty bummed out. By afternoon I am ready to just lay down and quit because of the pain in my neck and head. The only other pain is sometimes in my ears and some wierd happenings like my hearing going out on one side for a short period of time. I am thankful that I can still function at work and am just barely getting things at home done. I've had two new MRI's and my pcp called back telling me they were normal. I've read them and don't see anything real outstanding. My Chiari is " stable " according to the reporter. I am being referred to a new local nerosurgeon and am waiting to get an apt. That's my story in a nutshell. I'm happy that there is support online and happy to join this group. I'm hoping to make new friends and learn more about life after surgery and Chiari. Hope that you have hope today in the midst of your pain and struggles. God bless, Cindee from Nevada.
