Guest guest
Hi Mike, I went on an extreme diet for 3 months, and then went back to a semi normal but still healthy diet. The extreme diet I did for 3 months is detailed in this book: The Ultramind Solution: http://www.amazon.com/UltraMind-Solution-Depression-Overcome-Anxiety/dp/14165497\ 22/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8 & qid=1319993193 & sr=8-1 Honestly a lot of what the doctor in the book claims I think is not true (ie diet can cure autism, etc), but I still think the diet had some benefits from me. Specifically, I cut out ALL processed foods for 10 weeks. I also cut out all gluten. I only ate fruits, veggies, eggs, nuts, and stuff like that. I tried to eat mostly organic but I didn't eat exclusively organic. While I was on this diet I actually didn't really notice any benefits. I did start making a lot of veggie/fruit smoothies during this time, something I kept up afterwards. Once I started my circuit aerobic weight training course I started adding protein powder (Muscle Milk) to my diet. I really think the circuit aerobic weight training course had the biggest effect. I would recommend finding a course like that in your area. Now in terms of supplements. During this time I took Zinc Picolinate, Niacin, vitamin D, a multi-B vitamin, and fish oil. I don't know how much these things helped or not. I know Zinc is supposed to be able to help. I had been taking these though for part of 2010 as well and didn't see an improvement. Also I had started dating again and attempting to sleep with someone before I had had my T checked. I think it had already gone up before this because I had started seeing my hairline recede which I know his related to testosterone, but I didn't get my blood work done until after I had started dating. I hope this helps. I think it was really a combination of these things. However, getting my T back to normal DID NOT fix my ED. My libido is higher, my confidence is higher, my mood is better - thus I do consider it an improvement. My ED however has not been fixed. I still have soft glans issues, and difficulty maintaining erections, and reduced sensitivity in my glans (although not complete genital anesthesia). I am hoping Goldstein can help me regain my erections. Part of me is very interested to see if I may have developed a venous leak or dysfunction in my venous occlusion mechanism (which can be due to nerves sadly). He will be doing a doppler tomorrow and we will see what he finds. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I hope something works. Â This is no way to live. Guest guest
My testosterone test just came back and it's 458 ng/dl. Of course my Dr. says this is normal. But according to everything I've read my levels are normal for a 85 year old man. I should be around 700-1000 ng/dl at 26 years old. I have low testosterone symptoms...no sex drive, sexual thoughts doesn't arouse me, looking at a hot woman doesn't arouse me, numb genitals, trouble getting and maintaining erections, etc. I also get tired easily now and have low energy all day. I feel like I've been hit by a truck everyday. I literally do feel like an old man. Hopefully I can find someone to treat me like Blk did or I will have to treat myself on my own. > > > > > > > > > > > > I hope something works. Â This is no way to live. Guest guest
I am in the same boat as you guys except for the fact that when I had my levels tested I was at 226 ng/dl. This is extremely low as I am only 20 years old. I also have the symptoms lower libido (although I still randomly will have the urge). Reduced sensations. Weaker erections ( randomly Ill have strong ones but they go down because I dont have as much feeling) very strange considering when I stopped taking lexapro 20mg dosages I had premature ejaculation now the PE is gone but I have other symptoms. I also only took the pills for 13 days so 13 pills so maybe I do have an underlying issue Im going to an endocrinologist in December to get further testing the urologist also had me check my prolactin levels (maybe a pituitary tumor idk) maybe just a coincidence very strange. Also when i lift I still get stronger and have put on 4 pounds in 1 week since starting lifting again so maybe i should have my testosterone retested im sure the endocrinologist will retest but well see. This is ridiculous lol o well no use in being angry with the world just be happy im alive people have gone through worse. though i am woried about my long term health 226 is very low my grandpa prolly has a higher level. Guest guest
When I had my testosterone tested, it was only slightly higher than yours. I have heard from a couple of doctors and online resources that TRT is probably not a good idea, because it trains your body to stop producing testosterone itself. Probably better to try other things first, such as taking zinc, doing weight training, and getting lots of cardio. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I hope something works. Â This is no way to live. Guest guest
I went to the Dr today and told him I read that my 458 ng/dl (reference range 300-1080) testosterone were normal levels for a 70 year old man and my Dr.'s response was "That's not true." I asked him shouldn't I have high testosterone or at least around 700 ng/dl if I am a healthy 26 year old and he said "You could have higher levels, but your levels can't be causing symptoms." I'm not sure I believe this. He just told me to do more exercise and go to a health food store and buy a testosterone booster. I don't think we are going to get much help from Doctors. Guest guest
anyone else experimenting with licorice root still? Ive tried solgar brand recently and I noticed being horny for very short time right away and it goes away when it wears off. I wonder why licorice is doing this. Ive tried many other substances that suppose to help adrenal fatigue and it didnt do crap, for example ginseng, cordiceps > > I went to the Dr today and told him I read that my 458 ng/dl (reference range 300-1080) testosterone were normal levels for a 70 year old man and my Dr.'s response was " That's not true. Guest guest
I'm not sure licorice root would be good to take if it lowers testosterone? A study that looked into the effect on licorice supplementation in men, published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 1999, showed that testosterone levels were reduced in those who took the licorice supplements. Further research found that 240 to 525mg of licorice root reduced testosterone by 1/3, relative to the control group, an effect they believed was related to an inhibition of the 17beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase enzyme, which helps manufacture testosterone from precursor hormones.Read more: http://www.livestrong.com/article/143786-how-does-licorice-root-help-lower-libido/#ixzz1jFiucALY
