Guest guest
I have just found this text on one of the websites."If a patient continues to ingest a particular SSRI-antidepressant over a prolonged period of time, eventually the body's Adrenal Glands may lose their efficiency and "Adrenal Exhaustion Syndrome" will be the end result. Adrenal Exhaustion causes levels of adrenaline initially to fall and levels of cortisol to rise. Ultimately, also cortisol levels fall. When untreated, Adrenal Exhaustion will lead to seriously declining physical health. Many (former) SSRI-AntiDepressant users reported fatigue as a long term side-effect or were diagnosed with "Chronic Fatigue Syndrome." People suffering from stress are generally diagnosed with this disorder. Symptoms range from simple exhaustion to much more complex problems that are secondary to excessive output of adrenal hormones in the bloodstream, leading to Adrenal Exhaustion. Unlike the other hormones, it takes a long time before the Adrenal Glands have their adrenaline levels restored. Could we say that the SSRI-AntiDepressant "works" by slowly excavating the body's Adrenal Glands?" I think if this is the problem, then licorice root would be a good solution and cure for PSSD. There is also a positive story when a man treated PSSD with the help of this supplement and has a positive result:http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/20101203/msgs/972934.html Has anyone tried it? Guest guest
Licorice can raise blood pressure so I have always considered it to be a stimulant but it seems to be the opposite. It's incredibly sweet - 30 times sweeter than suger - and tastes great in mint tea. Extract 1: Licorice Ingredient A study published in 2008 by Dr. Jae-Pil Jeon and six other researchers concluded that a major ingredient in the production of licorice, isoliquiritigenin (ISL), actually blocks the brain's production of dopamine. While the researchers state that their study has important implications for cocaine addiction, ISL appears to be a natural way to lower dopamine in general and for many other addictive behaviors. http://www.ehow.com/way_6173918_natural-ways-lower-dopamine.html Extract 2: Washington, Feb 19 (ANI): Researchers in Korea and Pennsylvania have claimed that an ingredient in licorice shows promise as an antidote for the toxic effects of cocaine abuse. In the new study, Meeyul Hwang, Chae Ha Yang, and colleagues note that there is currently no effective medicine for treating cocaine abuse or addiction. Recent animal studies conducted by the researchers show that a licorice ingredient called isoliquiritigenin (ISL) can block the nervous systems production of dopamine. That neurotransmitter is involved in emotion, movement, and other brain activities. http://www.thaindian.com/newsportal/health/licorice-ingredient-may-help-treat-cocaine-addiction_100156987.html kv Read more: Natural Ways to Lower Dopamine | eHow.com http://www.ehow.com/way_6173918_natural-ways-lower-dopamine.html#ixzz1b3uOErar--- In SSRIsex , "Case" wrote:>> I haven't taken it but there is another story here: > > http://pssd.forumotion.com/t34-cured-i-think-so> > This guy daniel claims it cured him. > > > >> > > > > > I have just found this text on one of the websites.> > > > > > "If a patient continues to ingest a particular SSRI-antidepressant over a prolonged period of time, eventually the body's Adrenal Glands may lose their efficiency and "Adrenal Exhaustion Syndrome" will be the end > > result. Guest guest
Have you tried shining a flash light in your eye in a dark room? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJz4U3C-mIwIf your pupils are doing what the guy in the videos are, I think thats a sign of adrenal fatigue.Thats interesting that my eyes act in the same way. I think I will give it a try and start taking licorice root, Anyway, the more information I get, the more certain I am that it could be an effective treatment. It has an effect on low cortisol levels, and it has been shown to boost energy levels by regulating the production of some hormones in the adrenal glands.Learn more: http://www.naturalnews.com/031120_licorice_root_adrenal_fatigue.html#ixzz0YLunJhC6From: Case To: SSRIsex Sent: Monday, October 17, 2011 7:54 AMSubject: Re: has anyone tried licorice root for PSSD? Guest guest
, I do understand where you are coming from. I also notice that with exercise, healthy diet, and extra zinc (the "Z" part of ZMA) that I feel a little bit better mentally from where I was about 3 or 4 months ago. I guess I should value these small victories more than I do. I will definately make a note to keep clomid in mind as I go through the process with an endocrinologist. It's great that you were able to get your testosterone levels up to a normal level again. Hopefully the positive effects that is has on your mental state, libido, etc. will translate to more positives as you move forward. Good Luck.. Mike To: SSRIsex Sent: Thursday, October 20, 2011 11:55 PMSubject: Re: has anyone tried licorice root for PSSD? Hi Mike, Our cases might be different. All I am saying is between zinc, a healthy diet, intense exercise, and attempting to date again my T levels shot back up to higher than 700 from 338 a little over a year ago. I definitely notice a difference in both my emotional state and libido although no change at all with my erections. Look into clomid instead of T replacement. I was considering doing it for some time and consider it superior for guys with mid range low T. It gets your body to produce it again, and doesn't reduce fertility. > > > >> > > > I hope something works. Â This is no way to live. Guest guest
Mike one more piece of advice. Make sure the Zinc you are taking is in the form " Zinc Picolinate " . It generally costs more but is much more available to the body to absorb. I read up on this because the first Zinc supplement I took which I think was Zinc Oxide did nothing. The picolinate is a chelator that makes it easier for the body to recognize the zinc. In fact our body produces this if I recall correctly itself to absorb zinc, but by taking it already in that form you increase absorption. > > > > > > > > > > I hope something works.  This is no way to live.  I've been talking to an attractive girl that last few days on the phone who I know wants to have sex.  She always hints at us spooning and how that leads to something else and talking about me coming over.  Not to be a perv but I was trying to masturbate for her over the phone and couldn't get fully erect qnd couldn't get aroused and felt very little pleasure because of the genital numbness. Guest guest
Also I should add that Zinc alone only brought T back to ~450. I did a circuit aerobic weight training course and that got my T back to 700. Weight training is better than aerobic exercise for T. Running can actually decrease T I have read. Guest guest
Wow, that's amazing. Thanks for posting the link to the normal testosterone levels by age. My doc ran a test and it came back in the " normal " range, but now looking at the chart, I'd be normal for about a 70 year old! Like you, I'm 40. My testosterone is a bit higher than yours, but obviously not great. I don't want to try any replacement/enhancement drugs yet, though - I'm going to see if I can raise the level more naturally. Thanks again for posting this - I'm betting it sheds some light on the reality of the situation for a lot of us. > > > > > > > > I hope something works. Â This is no way to live. Guest guest
That website literally saved my life and got me educated on testosterone deficiency. Thankfully I found a endo who was willing to treat me considering how young I am. It's very difficult to get testosterone if you're mid twenties as most doctors will just tell you your levels are within normal range or that you're too young for trt. My levels were 530 when they should be in 700-1000. My doc were mainly concerned with the symptoms too which matched low testosterone which I had suspected for a long time. So now I've been on hrt for 2 months now, not the useless gels or pallets but injections and the diference it makes is light and day. I've got my motivation back, tiredness and brain fog is the thing of the past and in the last few weeks I took an estradiol blocker and finally feel like my old self again. I'm now dating a beautiful girl, my sex drive is through the roof and feel lust towards so many women again. I get the adrenaline surge to want to fuck everything in site. Sometimes it's too much but I don't care, it's better than being impotent. I remember trying licorice root and didn't do anything. OTC Supplements are mostly useless if you have a hormone imbalance. Do yourself a favour, get in touch with a respected endo who is educated on hrt and get your life back instead of wasting time on herbs that do nothing except burn a whole in your pocket. > > > > > > > > > > I hope something works. Guest guest
I am glad you are feeling a lot better Blk. I am going to have to disagree with on on one thing though, I highly advice against TRT especially for young men. I am 27. I discovered I had low T (338) at 25. I do think it caused me more emotional stress, reduced libido, etc. I did A LOT of research on TRT though. Long term TRT use can have a lot of side effects. I read up on health and zinc. I was low, but through STRENUOUS circuit aerobic weight training workouts, improved diet, and Zinc Picolinate I am happy to say I am back at a T level of 718!! My free is mid/high range too. All of this was natural. No need for shots, etc. For guys with medium low T who aren't willing to do the exercise, Clomid is a superior option. I was going to use clomid until I succesfuly got my levels back to normal on there own. Zinc on its own only helped a little (I got up to 440 from 338). I think it was diet and exercise that did the rest. Anyhow the benefit of clomid is it won't make you infertile, or shrink your balls or any of the nasty side effects TRT has. It cheaper as well, and it can actually reset things in some men. It won't work for men who have very low T (like 0-50) but for people in the middle it will work generally. Look into it if you aren't willing to put the work in to do it naturally, although I think the natural method is still preferable. > > > > > > > > > > > > I hope something works. I wonder how many in the group have high estradiol but because it is " within the normal reference range " their doctor does nothing about it. Guest guest
Hi, regarding your blood tests, these are the blood tests recommended by Vornan in the FAQ of this group in the 'Database' section in the Menu on the left of the webpage: What should I do if currently suffer SSRI sexual side effects, but have been off the drug for several months? Find a doctor and get a comprehensive blood test. We recommend the following:Total Testosterone, Bioavailable Testosterone (sometimes called "Free and Loosely Bound"), Free Testosterone (If Bio T is not available), SHBG, DHT, Estradiol (Specify the "Sensitive Extraction Method"), Total Estrogens, LH, FSH, Prolactin, Cortisol, Thyroid Panel (TSH, FT3, FT4), Complete Blood Count, Comprehensive Metabolic Panel, Lipid Panel, Homocysteine, and IGF-1 http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/SSRIsex/database?method=reportRows & tbl=1 > > > > > >> > > > > > I hope something works. Guest guest
I boosted my testosterone to a high level by taking the following for at least 3 months: 50mg Zinc Picolinate daily (plus 2mg copper to avoid copper deficiency from the zinc), Vitamin D3 5000 IU once per day, Magnesium Citrate 200mg two times per day, Herbal Powers Mucuna Pruriens, 1 capsule, 3 times per day. However, I experienced no improvement from a high testosterone level because at the time I didn't know I have high estradiol and low cortisol. That's why it's important to get comprehensive blood tests. Guest guest
Well, there's no easy solution here and at least now I know the cause of my problems. People do recover and I still suffer from depression and anxiety. Not to mention my sexual confidence has been smashed. There's so many other factors apart from ssri use. My plan is to try and forget about my problem and focus on other area's of my life. My plan is to quit alcohol, get up earlier and get some excercise, meditate for 10 mins a day, take a zinc tablet in the morning, cod liver oil tablet for lunch and a St s Wort whenever. Go about daily business. I am deeply depressed, so that has to be a factor. I'm not going to attempt to masturbate (it's a hit and a miss), I'm just going to leave it and hopefully nature should take it's course. I'll give it a few months. Guest guest
Hi Is clomid the dopamine drugs, don't you think it might make things worse, if not I want to try it. I ordered some Zinc Picolinate. Do you think caffeine effects sexual recovery. To: SSRIsex Sent: Tuesday, October 25, 2011 3:52:23 AMSubject: Re: has anyone tried licorice root for PSSD? Guest guest
No clomid is a fertility drug actually, but it has been tested in men and is often used in men with border line low T to raise T levels. Here are some articles from pubmed for those who want to know more: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12904801 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16422830 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19938905 Glad you are trying the zinc picolinate. Keep in mind zinc alone only raised my T from 338 to 440 or so. It took hard weight exercises to get back above 700. That also occurred over the cours of 10 months or so. Good luck to you! Guest guest
This is really interesting. I have taken all these things actually as well, well except magnesium. Also I took " Dopa Mucuna " not sure if that is the same or not. Also, in my blood work my estradiol was 40, which I saw on some of the alternative stuff you posted might be considered high. It was normal within the range they reported (10-50) but the life extension post you shared said 10-30 was ideal. I am happier I think because of the higher T. I also find women more attractive again. I think I just didn't care that much for a while. My dick is still not that sensitive though and I have ED/soft glans issues. I'll talk to Goldstein on Monday and see what he says. He has been faxed my hormone levels. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I hope something works.  This is no way to live. >  I've been talking to an attractive girl that last few days on > the phone who I know wants to have sex.  She always hints at us > spooning and how that leads to something else and talking about me > coming over.  Not to be a perv but I was trying to masturbate for > her over the phone and couldn't get fully erect qnd couldn't get aroused > and felt very little pleasure because of the genital numbness. Guest guest
, you say you improved your testosterone levels primarily with diet and exercise. Would you mind detailing your new diet? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I hope something works. Â This is no way to live.
