Guest guest
Hello Stan, Vera, and DR, Thank you so much for responding - this has really been a trying time for us! We are going to stay with the Valtrex - and yes, we're sure that it's yeast that's flaring up. Recent stool analysis showed Candida Lambica as a potential pathogen that is effectively resistant to Diflucan (but fortunately sensitive to Nystatin and Nizoral). He was on Nystatin for the 1st three months of biomedical intervention, Transfer Factor for the next two, and Diflucan for the last three months - corresponding with the first two weeks of Valtrex. The latest stool analysis also showed a zero growth of any good bacteria - after nine months of probiotics. So we (along with our DAN! Dr.) decided to lay off of the antifungal. He's taking a capsule of Oil of Oregano now with meals. We'll try switching over to Goldenseal in a week or so, and then Garlic after that. Since we've been off of the antifungal and increasing the probiotics we've noticed much more normal bowel movements. We're really worried about building up resistance. We're also doing chelation right now - and know that this can also exacerbate yeast (Great!). Nizoral will be our last resort treatment if the yeast gets out of control. But for now we'll stay the course. We are so amazed at the steady gains from the Valtrex. Again, Thank you so much, Stan! __________________________________________________
