Guest guest
Hi I am 42 yrs old was dg Hashi with a huge multi nodular goitre when my last pregnancy ended sadly at 23 weeks. I was aged 38 yrs. I was and remained around 20 stone at the time. I had been for TSH tests for years due to unexplained weight gain, goitre, carpal tunnel, plantar fasciitis, thinning of eyebrow and hair etc etc etc Conversley my TSH is always 0.3 or something verging on hyper! Why aren't I skinny lol! My mum had a goitre removed years ago and was on Thyroxine. Interestingly when I looked at the WWI records for my dads great uncle on his maternal side his admission into the army notes at 21years he had a huge goitre! So my genetics are loaded! My hubby of 22 years took off with an older woman 18 months ago and I lost nearly five stone without dieting ....just heartbreak and stress. I don't recommend it but it has made me feel so much more energy!!! My autistic 11 year old benefits from a cycling mum nowadays! I live in the UK and have read about the " politics " of care in UK v USA and there seems to be no set pattern on how one is treated. I have a wonderful GP who is a bit of a forward thinker and I appreciate that she has prescribed the gluten free diet for me as a trial...but she needs a sympathetic Endo who will validate her continuing to prescribe for me and one who will discuss appropriate meds. We have a difficulty in the UK getting the bloods tests to be able to " read " what the best treatment is and really I wanted to ask if anyone knew of a " good " Endo in the north of England? Kind Regards J
