Guest guest
Hi, I started my 7yr old (50lbs) valtrex on Dec. 21. His full dose by DAN! doctor is 500mg twice a day. We started 250mg twice a day for three days, then 250 three times a day for three days. On Dec. 27, he was on Valtrex 335mg three times a day at least four hours apart and he was doing well. On Jan. 2, he was showing lethargy and some coughing and running nose. Low fever started on Jan. 3 and it went away in a day. He also developed chapped lips (no outbreak yet) that I was able to treat with B2 and zinc cream and went away in three days and his lips was all right during the weekend. Yesterday, on Jan. 10, he was showing an active herpes outbreak with swallowing lips and itchness aroun the lips. I though valtrex was suppose the treat the herpes outbreak. When we first started Valtrex, the herpes was not active at all. After two weeks of Valtrex, the outbreak is back. The last time that he had an herpes outbreak was two years ago and acyclovir was very effective. Should I switch back to acyclovir? My son did not show any good or bad sign when he was on acyclovir for a month. We are battling yeast as well. Good things with Valtrex: he likes to play with his younger sister more and he is more verbal (he is dyspraxia). I have left a message at the DAN! doctor's office and we normally won't hear back from the DAN! the same day. We are taking a break from chelation and he is doing mHBOT and on OCD 4 drops twice a day. Your input will be deeply appreciated. Thanks. Guest guest
Zoe, This is actually a common reaction. My son developed all of the same things as your son and his cold sore was very short lived. I think it is the virus has to run it’s course in order to be properly suppressed. Maybe Stan could jump in here but I have been on this board for over a year and seen many posts where the cold sore pops up as well as rashes and viral eruptions so when we went on Valtrex I was actually hoping for the same to happen. - From: mb12 valtrex [mailto:mb12 valtrex ] On Behalf Of iloveandrewliu Sent: Thursday, January 11, 2007 11:31 AM To: mb12 valtrex Subject: Help! 13 days on full dose Valtrex, Herpes outbreak is back Hi, I started my 7yr old (50lbs) valtrex on Dec. 21.
