Hi ,What do you mean you do not have a real diagnosis of Asthma and your doctor just assumed that you do? I'm so sorry for sounding stupid, I just don't understand. Has your doctor at least done a spirometry? I hope so.

For most people with asthma, the cause is unknown. I do not know what caused mine. Perhaps genetic, environmental or both. Sometimes I get asthma attacks without knowing the trigger, but I do know some of my triggers so I do what I can to avoid them. For example, food allergies can trigger my Asthma, so I avoid food that I am allergic to.

Hi,

I never had a real diagnoisif I have asthma or what bring on my asthma attack. The

doctor never went that far he just assumed that I have asthma and just started me on

asthma meds. I did have allergy test on my back but that just told me what I am allergic

to and not what brings on my asthma in the first place. But really where my docotr is

located all they care about is money and not the patient.

I have had asthma since birth. I have also been diagnosed with a systemic vasculitis that causes asthma. So now, when I get asthma attacks, we never know if it's really just asthma or the vasculitis.

I hope you get your diagnosis soon.

Don't you just hate the Prednisone? Hahahahahahaha! I love that it keeps me alive. I literally won't be here anymore if it weren't for Prednisone. But I also hate it because of all the side effects. I am on IV Pred right now at 1500mg/day. I was on 120mg/day of oral before I shifted to IV.

I have to add, I also take Nuelin SR and Bambec for my asthma. See, I still have my moments even with a Pred head. Sometimes I still remember things and names. Yes, I forget even mine. Hahahaha! And that isn't a joke. I wish it was.

I have my medications to manage symptoms -- asthma, kidney problems, eye problems, neuropathy, blood problems, etc etc etc -- steroids (Prednisone) , chemotherapy, and medications to combat the side effects of all those medications. Grand total would be 34 different medications (some taken more than once a day). Oh, the joys! Hahahahahaha!

Same thing with me, Jan. I have asthma, but I also have an underlyingobstructive issue which no one seems to be able to diagnose. We arecurrently in the process of getting me to a specialty hospital wherehopefully I can get some answers. For my asthma I use DuoNeb

(albuterol and iptatroprium bromide) in my nebulizer 4 times a day,Symbicort, Zyflo, and Clarinex D 12 hour. Then there is 55mg/day ofprednisone. Everything else is to combat effects of the prednisone. A total of 22 meds.
