Guest guest
Norma,I don't have a reference but I learned that the blood alcohol level mirrors the level that is in the milk and since the milk is a living fluid, it processes the alcohol at the same rate as the body. I'm looking forward to someone else confirming this. Guest guest
Norma, As far as I know, it doesn't dissipate from pumped milk. Only radioactive drugs do. Guest guest
My understanding is alcohol is metabolized between 60 and 90 minutes after ingestion (depends on what mom eats, her metabolism, weight). Guest guest
i hope i can explain myself despite my English...the reason Alcohol dissipate from the BM inside the breast is the blood stream that taking it out. at the EBM there is no blood stream and the Alcohol, as i use my common sense, it stays there or it take more time for the Alcohol to dissipate from. i think it's a good question to ask Proffesor Hale. as for the mother, she can pump before going to the party/parties and then wait enough time before nursing her baby... Guest guest
I can't remember the name of the researcher, but she did a presentation here in seattle and it was about alcohol and she also did a talk on taste experiences of fetuses as well as breastfed babies. I can find it if you remind me after Christmas! but she said it doesn't matter how long you freeze it store it or whatever. it's the same as it was initially. I know. I was surprised too! Guest guest
Same as with every other drug that you have to pump for because baby can't breastfeed. All stay in the milk at the same levels they were when mom pumped it. All but radioactive drugs. Those you can store/freeze for 10 half lives and they will be safe to use. But that is only good for radioactive drugs. (See Hale on that).
