Guest guest
Alice - Thank you so much for your proposal. As a new member of JUNG-FIRE, I have been deeply distressed by the ugly exchanges that have been taking place. They seem to have no place in (what I understand as) the purpose of this group: reflecting on Jung and Jungian concepts... I have essentially stopped participating because of what has been going on. I hope that the climate will change. Whitlow Re: proposal As moderator [barely hanging on n contemplating resigning} I have a final suggestion: This grp is dedicated to the concepts of Jung - agreed? Guest guest
, I agree with you. Threats and suppression make even lurking here distasteful and participation unappealing. I'm not sure if you were here yet when someone made threats to -- that person was unsubscribed. I've also seen a physical threat made, but that person is still here. In a Jungian group it seems no topic concerning individuation - which surely encompasses the whole of life! - would be taboo but it seems that those with the loudest voices often shout the minority down. Still, I don't think unsubscribing people is the answer -- we still share the same planet. Alice, I hope your truce works. But in a place where some feel like an outsider and others feel somehow priveledged to judge, how long will truce prevail? Tolerance, communication, authentic listening and empathy are virtues that heal. What's happening here is just a reflection of what's happening on our planet. If we don't get past our tribal visions to see this as One World...well why *is* that so difficult? Anyway, Alice, good luck with a difficult job. I'm going to go back to lurking -- J-F, like life, still contains many treasures. " Let everyone pass beyond the bounds of his life story!...There must be plenty of room within us...and our soul must be so spacious that we can wander through it and go down a staircase to the sea, and sit down on the shore and look... Guest guest
Alice, all, An exercise. Sure... *** Here is a questionnaire for J n G n anyone willing to answer:: 1. Can u have compassion for the innocent citizens of both sides? Yes 2, Can u have compassion for the innocent victims of violence n their families on both sides? Yes 3. Despite being staunch adherents to yr respective religions are u able to see the underlying bits of wisdom they have in common? Yes 4. Can u accept the fact that a third band of fire-sitters comes fr a third POV? Yes* 5. Can u admit that there may be archetypal forces at work greater than all of us? Yes** 6. Can u see the potential for the release of positive, healing energy whenev 2 'enemies' become friends? Yes!! 7. Can u name 1 or 2 myths/legends where this is the motif? see below 8. Can u feel the anxious concern of our whole family of fire-sitters? n that our genuine hope is keep this list more focussed on the discussion and application of Jung's concepts even if we sometimes refer to current events - after all they are the nigredo! We seem to have reached separatio! n need to move on. my hopes are different * How many are there of us? ** Not exactly how I would put it :-) (a story) The Spring A Christian goes to his priest and tells a year's worth of sins, fornication, meanness, hypocrisy. He wants to be forgiven, and he hears the priest's absolving as grace. The priest himself may have no experience of that mercy, but the Christian's imagination gives it to him. Love and imagination do many thing. They conjure up the sweethearts form, so that you can speak to it, " Do you love me? " Yes, yes. A mother besides the new grave of her son says things she never said when he was alive. The ground there seems to have intelligence. She lays her face on the fresh earth, giving her love as never before. Days and weeks go by . Grief for the dead diminishes. Soon there is nothing but oblivion at the grave site. Let your teacher be love itself, not someone with a white beard. In the state of fana+, love without form say, 'I am the source of sober clarity and drunken excitement. You have my love reflection in forms so well that now's there's no mediating.' When a Christian longs to be forgiven, the priest disappears in that longing. Water flows from out of the ground over a stone. No one calls it a stone anymore. It's the pure substance pouring over it, a spring. These forms we're in are like bowls. The acquire value from what pours through to serve as nourishment, then they're washed a put away for the next use. Barks, after Rumi, ra (Masnavi; Nicholson tr. V:3257) *** Huge: " A mother besides the new grave of her son says things she never said when he was alive. The ground there seems to have intelligence. Guest guest
Alice: I am late getting back to you on these important questions because I have been working out this issue in my own family. Following my mother's death, my father engaged a lawyer to pressure me to give back some jewelry my mother had given me over the years, saying it was his. You¹ll be proud of me. I said to the lawyer " my father believes she's his possession so using that logic, anything she possesses is his. This is patriarchal bullshit! " I added ³I am saying Œno² to his bullying. ŒNo¹ to his using the law as a stick to beat me with!² And you know what, the lawyer backed right down, said " I hear you " declaring that the jewelry was obviously a gift and that no litigation is required. Today I feel more balanced from the turmoil of anger, sadness and fear that threatened to overwhelm me from this conflict within my own family. Better able to respond to your questionnaire. Yet I can feel these very same feelings here amongst us all in a group that I have come to feel is a family with all the loving and caring affection that entails. > > As moderator [barely hanging on n contemplating resigning} I have a final > suggestion: > > This grp is dedicated to the concepts of Jung - agreed?
