Guest guest
I want to share with all of you something that happened today at work. The event itself is probably not unheard of, but it has now happened twice to me within the space of a year. Today I went outside to go on a break and saw a poor little bird huddled by the side of the building looking cold and frightened. Our building is a tall glass one and birds fly into it often and get stunned or killed. This bird had evidently done just such a thing. It was so small and in the way of foot traffic that I felt it was in danger. So I picked it up in my hands, meaning to move it to a safer pleace. It was then that it fluttered its wings to be let go, and I set it on a safe ledge out of the way of foot traffic, where it settled and looked at me. To feel a bird's weight. To feel its wings flutter in your hand. To know that you hold in your hands such a tiny but important, vital life. It is one of THE most amazing experiences. The same thing happened last winter, with another bird. I just wanted to share the experience. Try and imagine it happening to you.
