Just wanted to say that I LOVE my WIC job-would never do anything to jeopardize that!!Also love my boss-would never do anything to jeopardize that either! As I stated before, I am a NEW IBCLC, but I have been employed by WIC for 8 years. I just wanted to bounce the idea off you ladies as you have much more knowledge on the subject than I. I definitely will check all the details out first. Liz

Hi girls,

my question is ...I am a new IBCLC, I currently work for WIC and have for the past 8 years. Can I,is it legal for me to be a pp LC and not have an actual office? I mean if I get a tax id number and follow all the protocol that I need to, can I just make house calls and bill insurance companies for my time? I want to keep my 8-4 job at WIC, but would love to do evenings and weekends pp for the non wic moms.I am one of only 2 LC's in my county and the other one is not working as an LC-so there is a huge need in this area! Does anyone have any experience with this?

Liz,I only do home visits. My "office" is my living room, meaning that is where my computer, printer and files are. Some supplies are in my clothes closet. I live in Manhattan in a 2 bedRoom apartment with my husband and 3 kids.No need for brick and mortar.Leigh Anne O'Connor, IBCLCSent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerrySender: Date: Fri, 20 Jan 2012 07:36:42 -0800 (PST)To: < >ReplyTo: Subject: RE: advice Absolutely Joan-you are so right! I have considered both points and of course I would be researching both, just wondered if it was legal to do without an "office" LizSubject: adviceTo: ibclc-pp Date: Friday, January 20, 2012, 3:11 PM Hi girls, my question is ...I am a new IBCLC, I currently work for WIC and have for the past 8 years. Can I,is it legal for me to be a pp LC and not have an actual office?
