I did call Burger King about this ad. It seems they have had a lot of complaints about it, but it still is on the air.

It does indeed seem to condone bullying in the workplace and portrays it in a "humorous" light. As I told their marketing folks, would they have made one showing that guy demanding a kiss from the woman featured in the ads, demanding more and more serious kisses they way he was making the man reel in bigger fish? Or more simply, would they have used a woman or a black person in place of that white man? They didn't really have an answer for me there.

I've not actually seen the advert, possibly it is not out in the UK;

but from your description it appears as if they are actually

encouraging bullying in the work place. Of course Burger King are

very likley to say it is just a joke - but if so it is a poor joke

and one at anothers expense, which is not very funny at all.

Kind Regards,

Hello ,

I think it is very good of you that you called them! You stood up for those who are being/have been bullied. That's so great!

Good luck in writing them, . That sounds like very bad taste on their part. They should not be able to get away with making fun of/encouraging bullying.

OK, I just woke up and am replying to mails in sequence here. I see you already made the call now. Good that you did. Even if it doesn't seem to have an immediate effect, it may still have one in the long run. Only takes a few more calls for them to start seeing it as poor judgement on their part. Perhaps someone else in the US could make an additional call?

I used to pester our public service TV station all the time about violent films and other things that it explicitly says in their license that they are obliged to keep to a minimum, and I also kept saying they should have separate channels for entertainment and factual programs. They didn't show much interest in that idea back then, but now, about 6 years later, they actually did start a separate fact/education-channel. :-)

I was told by someone who knows television journalists that in my country each letter or phone call of complaint is considered by the TV station to be equivalent of the views shared by around 20,000 viewers. So, one person CAN make a difference.
