Guest guest
could easily catch colds because her immune system could be weaker. I have three kids also. When my kids were younger, they stayed in the doctors office. the very cold weather outside may not be helping either. Plus, the germs in school is no big help. the kids sharing supplies and not washing their hands enough. I'm sure this is just the time of year to keep spreading the germs from one child to another and kids just can't shake it because there is another bug they pick up. I would say just make sure when they are home lysol the house frequently, treat the cold with medication so the symptoms won't turn into anything serious. Make sure your kids keep their hands washed,(even more when they are sick)If you don't really care for the doc. then get a new one. I'm sure your daughter will be fine. good luck. I hate colds!!! Another thing we do around my house to fight the cold and to push it out of our system quicker is to take PLENTY of vitamin C!!!!!!!! I stock up on the orange juice with extra vitamin C, I take vitamin C supplements, and my kids will take the vitamines with extra C around this time of year because of the cold season. When my kids catch a cold i also let them drink some warm tea with honey and lemon. I hope some of this help you. My kids use to always catch colds, but I have noticed since i started to give them a vitamine once a day they haven't been sick as much. Guest guest
One more thing i thought about judi, does have asthma? My sisters kids has a small case of asthma but their asthma only acts up when they get a cold. the cold is the only thing that triggers their asthma and this is when they need to get on asthma medications to help clear the chest. Make sure katie keeps nice and warm when going out in this freezing weather. hat gloves scarf etc. You mainly want to keep a scarf around her mouth and nose so the she can protect her lungs from the extremely cold air. Some kids colds turn into bronchitus. > >Reply-To: MosaicDS >To: MosaicDS >Subject: Re: chest infection >Date: Fri, 24 Jan 2003 15:42:08 +0000 > > could easily catch colds because her immune system could be weaker. >I >have three kids also. Guest guest
Judy: was on constant antibiotics when she was younger until we finally had her tonsils removed. She also had tubes put into her ears at the same time. She has not had a cold since. She was four at the time she has not had a cold since. She hardly ever gets sick. The last time she missed a day of school was six years ago when she had the flu. You might want to ask your doctor for some advice on getting well. DS and MDS kids do have a tendency to have more running noses and colds. But, he should be able to give you some tips on how to keep her from getting them so bad that she has the cough and needs the antibiotic. Colds are typically viral and the antibiotic will only help if it's bacterial. I also like the vitamin C and washing hands advice. That's what we did as kids! Hope this helps! Guest guest
Good point Terri, I have noticed Kyrell, now 6, has few colds since his tonsil and adenoids removal over a year ago. Maybe those big tonsils held bacteria easy. who knows. I am glad I see less runny noses. >From: tblades7@... >Reply-To: MosaicDS >To: MosaicDS >Subject: Re: chest infection >Date: Fri, 24 Jan 2003 14:28:37 -0500 > >Judy: > > was on constant antibiotics when she was younger until we finally >had her tonsils removed. Guest guest
I know many here think it is hog wash but I believe TNI helps with our kids immune systems. Also probiotics and colustrum may help. It is known that the biochemistry of persons with ds differ in many ways from the general population. The absorption of several vitamins and minerals (A,C, E, zinc and selinium to name a few) are hindered. I feel that these differences can compromise the immune function for some of our kids. Fortunately with the mosaicism, many may be spared some of these problems but how do we know whether our kids are affected by this or not? If my child had been battling colds for 6 months you bet I would give it a try. We have been using it for several months now and I feel good about the decision. 's health has been good. Maybe it would have been good anyway, I don't know but I feel it helps bring balance to her system, especially in counteracting the SOD.. Guest guest
Judy, When Tim was a baby, he was constantly congested and coughing. It was non-stop with him. Finally, one day we discovered his problem. I took him in to see his doctor, but another doctor saw him since the regular one was unavailable. Immeadiately, the doctor said to take him off of milk and his congestion would leave. I took him off of milk and he no longer had the congestion. It turned out that he was having an allergic reaction to the fat in the milk and it caused all the respitory problems. Perhaps you should concider taking off milk, then if that does not work, see an allergist. Hope this helps! I know poor little has been so sick for so long!
