Guest guest
Did anyone else have a child experience any ear pain while on Valtrex? Friday night (late) around midnight Kaitlyn complained of ear pain. She had a fever and a very warm body continuously since then. This is now Monday night and she is still complaining about her ear and she had a temp of 100.4. I have given her Sudafed and Motrin. I am planning on calling our DAN tomorrow. I am hoping he doesn’t suggest to stop the Valtrex. Can you take Valtrex and an antibiotic if she has an ear infection? Has anyone had a child get an ear infection from drinking Soy milk? The girls drink Almond milk but just recently I decided to alternate every other day with Soy to cut back on some cost. In the past when they had Soy milk they had some ear trouble and I thought it might be due to the Soy milk but don’t really know. Now that we are on the Valtrex it’s hard for me to know if it’s a Valtrex response or not. I quit giving her the Soy milk Saturday but this fever and ear pain haven’t subsided if that is the culprit. Any experience or thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thanks !
Guest guest
The ear pain/ ear infection may or may not be related to Valtrex. First of all, for the ear pain a few drops of warm olive oil heated on the stove works like a charm. It numbs the pain right away and will allow her to sleep so the ear infection can heal. Do not heat in the microwave and test it on your hand to make sure it is not too warm. Some people actually add a little garlic for healing, but we have just used the warm olive oil. Most really would not use soy milk. Soy is actually very bad for you. You can google it on Mercola's website. Soy formula is one of the documented risk factors for autism. If you decide you do have to do antibiotics (personally I would avoid if I had any choice), you may want to opt for the shot as the shot bypasses the gut. The only time most DANs will recommend oral antibiotics is for strep when you do not want to risk sending it to the brain. If you do end up using antibiotics, I would double up on lots and lots of probiotics because of what antibiotics do to the gut. I do not know what to say about the Valrex. Best wishes Vera Barry wrote: Did anyone else have a child experience any ear pain while on Valtrex? Friday night (late) around midnight Kaitlyn complained of ear pain. Guest guest
Vera, Thanks for your reply. I will try the olive oil (just regular cooking olive oil is okay?) I will stop using the soy milk all together. I did know that alot of soy milk wasn't good as it can erode the esaphagus. I did not know that it was a risk factor for our children. I want to avoid antibiotics at all cost because of the damage it can do. Thank you for letting me know that if I do have to go that route that the shot is better. I have much to learn! Thanks again! > > The ear pain/ ear infection may or may not be related to Valtrex. First of all, for the ear pain a few drops of warm olive oil heated on the stove works like a charm. Guest guest
Hi , My son, A.J., has received penicillin shots at two different times for ear infections. He does have ear tubes, but this is when one of the tubes was not working. In any case, I do want to let you know that the penicillin works great, but it is a painful shot. It is thick. I would definitely ask about a numbing cream before hand and bring a reward. AJ. had some muscle pain afterward too. Best of luck, Tricia Re: Ear Pain / Fever 100.4 / Soy Milk / Valtrex Vera,Thanks for your reply. I will try the olive oil (just regular cooking olive oil is okay?) Guest guest
Thanks Tricia. Sounds like you've got a tough little guy! I'll definitely remember the numbing cream but I'll have to bring a reward for her and me! Thanks! > > Hi , > > My son, A.J., has received penicillin shots at two different times for ear infections. Guest guest
I beleive that soy contains casein (per Dr. Usman). If your child has a casein sensitivity I would definitely cut out the soy. > > Did anyone else have a child experience any ear pain while on Valtrex? > Friday night (late) around midnight Kaitlyn complained of ear pain.
