Guest guest
Thanks I appreciate the info. Because I can still function I do have a lot to lose so I'll probably stick to natural remedies. I've read about dopamine agonists and those would be my backup plan if this becomes more of a problem than it is right now..now it's been 5 weeks. Do you think there is a good chance for me to return to normal function still? Also I'm looking into natural supplements. There is one I can't remember the name of but, it has a mixture of all of the herbs that are supposed to increase drive(horny goat weed, Maca, among others). Do you think trying this supplement is a good idea? I'm also going to start doing cardio 5 days a week. As far as the girl goes we've already had sex..it was only my 2nd time ever and I was able to get it up but, it wasn't as pleasurable as I thought.. And once we started intercourse I kind of lost wood. I had been drinking and was nervous so that didn't help. I'm gonna wait and see. Hopefully once I get more comfortable with her I'll be able to perform better. Also when I took welbutrin it was like my libido increased but sex didn't feel as good. And remeron was similar problems as ssri except just not as intense and no orgasm sensation problems. So right now it's basically my libido and some sensitivity loss. I really hope we can all get back to normal and I will follow your advice about never taking an anti-depressant again. I also am scheduled a physical for march 2nd. I live in Boston so I have some pretty good doctors. I might change my p-doc to Stanley ducharme as he is a specialist in this field and recognizes post ssri sexual dysfunction. I'll let you know if I have any breakthroughs and I hope you do the same.. Thanks- Sent from my iPhoneOn Feb 17, 2011, at 10:28 AM, "jasonontko" wrote: Your case is a bite unique but not unheard off. Several people have had developed PSSD some time after SSRI use even though they return to normal. Its is possible that repeatable exposure made you susceptible and the Remrone was the stra that broke your libedos back. Also the chemical reactions that cause PSSD are unique to the individual. I have PSSD caused by Zoloft but for some stange reason Wellibutrin makes thing worse when 30% of people it makes them better. My adivice is to get your testosteron checked and if its a little low, take some Clomide. If its not then take a look into a dopmine agonist. Hoever dopmine agonist (I use Amantadine) produce somewhat unnature sexual function that makes sex more mechanical in nature and can cause more damage to you sexual functional. To date nothing have made me go back to normal over an extended period of time, so I dont knoe if I delayed natural regeneration. Howver, I have had PSSD for 5 years so waiting so my patients is up. I did not take anything for six months after PSSD and had no change, some people did recover but not all like me. As far as the girl friend is concern, if you want to keep her you can take Vagara and have pleasureless erection that will do the job as long as you dont mind being a living breathing vibrator. So that pretty much all your choices. Hope something works for you and one last peievce of advice, stay away from any antidepressent, even Wellbutrine that helped many on this site had caused sexaul dysfunction in others but if you get desperate you might give it a try, taht is if you are sure you have nothing to lose. Hope things work out. > > Hi I'm new to this group. I am now 21 and I have been on and off anti-depressant medication since I was 16. I stopped taking ssris when I was 18. I had been off of meds for three years and my sex function was completely normal. Just about 8 months ago I was prescribed welbutrin. I went off of that and sexually I was normal again. I was then put on parnate. I experienced sexual dysfunction so I quit that. Again sexually I was back to normal. I had been off parnate about two weeks when I started remeron. I was on only 15 mgs starting dose for about a month. I experienced sexual dysfunction on this drug too. Which was surprising to me because I heard that doesn't happen with remeron. I will add that I was worried about getting pssri sexual dysfunction while on remeron because I had read about it. I have now been off of remeron for about 5 weeks and still have the same sexual side effects. I can still function but, my sex drive is diminished as well as sensitivity. Now I'm wondering if I should be worried? it's been 5 weeks but typically on other drugs my full function returned within days. I'm worried because I have just started a relationship with a girl for the 1st time in my life. We have had sex once and I didn't perform like I would expect. My doc says to wait it out but, this problem is causing me distress and I already have enough anxiety. I also am wondering if remoron has caused anyone here post ssri dysfunction? I was hoping someone knowledgeble could give me sone info on my situation. I would really appreciate it. Thank you > - >
Guest guest
I hear ya man. I'm experiencing some problems with post ssri sexual dysfunction not to the extent of some people but, just getting a taste of it I know how much it sucks. It's been 5 weeks so I hope it's nothing permanent, but regardless of what my situation is I have become interested in this problem and can't believe there isn't more awareness. My heart goes out to the people who have literally become chemically castrated. I think you should definately come to Boston to see this guy. I think we all need to contact the media or something too. These drugs or any drugs made by humans just aren't safe. Who knows what changes drugs have caused in us. I mean we all notice our sex drives but, what if there are other things that have changed in us that we aren't as aware of. I think their is hope for everyone but, the key is raising awareness in the medical community. Anyway good luck with everything Ben. Email me whenever you want I will let you know if I have any breakthroughs.-Sent from my iPhone I am thinking about making a visit, as well, to Dr Ducharme, as I live in Philadelphia (about 6 hours driving). But the leader on this stuff is Dr Goldstein and I am thinking about flying out to San Diego to have an appointment with him. After seeing some legit success with my Dostinex trial maybe he can tell me which doses would provide constant results. If I could have the same constant results as I did the other day, while not nearly what I had before, it would be MUCH preferable to what I have been going through, and certainly a bearable way to live. I just cannot live with these ups and downs. When love is the biggest desire in my life, and having PSSD affect this, Its just no way to live. There has to be an answer. -Ben > > > > Hi I'm new to this group. I am now 21 and I have been on and off anti-depressant medication since I was 16. I stopped taking ssris when I was 18. Guest guest
I think exercise would only help your sex drive if you were already out of shape to begin with. For example my cardiovascular endurance could improve a lot. It would prob help my base sex drive if I improved in that. I don't think exercise will cure the problem that causes pssd but, can increase sex drive in people who are not in tip top shape. Maybe I'm wrong but, it can't hurt to be in good shape..i think it also depends on the severity of your pssd..someone who can't function at all will experience probably little benifit from supplements or exercise..but, I think in my case where the only problem I have during sex is lasting too long..maybe these things will help..but I do think the best cure Is time..I will also say that at least in my case I am making it worse by always thinking about it..I do not believe this problem is in our head but, do believe focusing on it makes it worse.Sent from my iPhone I agree with you on the physical activiy part. I too was in top physical shape , still am, never been out of shape. Some call me obsessed with it. But even befoe I went on testosterone it didn't effect pssd one way or the other. > > > > > > Hi I'm new to this group.
