Dear Carol:

The one thing that I am doing is praying that this war doesn't last too long

and that Saddam leaves Iraq.

Please, everyone pray with me.

Love to everyone.

Carol,

We have a good supply of food & meds in the house. We have some very

dear Mormon friends who started us on that years ago. I don't worry

about us old folks (Ron and me) so much as I do our kids &

grandbabies. My sil, Duane, said last night that " if they bomb us, I

am just going to sit on the front porch in a lawn chair and watch the

fireworks. " He says he doesn't see the point in people " hiding in

bomb shelters and caves, only to come out to 12-eyed mutants walking

around tryiing to find food. " Maybe he's got a good point. As for

me, I am just going to give thanks for today and not worry about

tomorrow.

Part of the terrorism is to feed our fears. Duck tape and plastic on the

windows will do nothing, but for some it is a false sense of security.

Myself - I have placed my fears in God¹s hands. Fear will make me flare

even worse than I already am. What will be, will be and none of us here can

change anything. The best thing we can do is to have a good food supply in

our homes, but I do that year round anyway. I¹ve always bought quantities

of things on sale that I use regularly and just rotate them. I used to joke

that we could live for a year on the stockpile. It¹s not a joking matter

anymore and I pray it is not needed. My husband as a cabinet maker has

several respirators that he uses when he paints. I feel the same as Duane.

If it¹s so bad that we have no food and chemicals have destroyed our growing

grounds, there is no hiding. So I just pray to God that our men and woman

that are protecting us strike before we are struck. I have faith in our

military and all the people that are protecting us.

Hi Carol,

First off, I certainly wouldn't worry. I would recommend having

enough medication, food and some bottled water around. You may also

want to put gas in your vehicles if prices spike. I really don't

think duct tape would do any good.

Anyway, my two cents...

Hope you are well.

Love and hugs,

Alan

Yes Carol, I live about 30 mins from NY. I live in Linden, NJ. I just pray

that they don't hit NY again and hope that they don't hit any part of the US.

I hope Saddam gives up and leaves Iraq so our young people can come home and

so the innocent people of Iraq can live too. I would like to see Saddam in a

Psychiatric Institution for the criminally insane too.

Love to all,

Actually I'm a Mormon, and we have our food storage pretty well under

control, LOL. I just wasn't sure about medications. I was even

wondering if I should fill one refill of antibiotics, so I have them on

hand, just in case? I think the concern for me is in 1) running out of

meds and 2) my suppressed immune system. I take for granted all the

food we have, LOL. After a while, it becomes a way of life.

I hope you and Ron feel better soon.

Lots of love,

Carol

Oh, , I'll be praying with you. I think Saddam leaving Iraq

would be the BEST thing that could happen right now. We've also been

praying for wisdom for our government leaders, and safety for our troops

as well as for innocent citizens of Iraq.

How have you been doing? Don't you live close to NY?

Lots of love,

Carol

Hi Alan,

I really don't feel worried. I was more curious what's going through

everyone's mind. After all, I live in Orlando - hardly a target. I

agree about the duct tape. It seems pretty futile, and that's probably

why we haven't bothered.

I hadn't thought of the gas in the car, though.

How are you feeling, Alan? Last time I heard from you, you were

flaring. Are you doing better?

Love,

Carol

Hi Carol,

That's good. I am glad you're not worried. My health has been pretty

bad. You'll probably come across my " venting " post from earlier. I

don't think the Humira is going to work for me and I am in quite a

bit of discomfort. Just can't get comfortable at all no matter how

much I shift around. My right hip and knee joints feel like they want

to pop. Mind you, I have been at work since 6:45 but it's usually

very manageable. Plus, the fatigue is back. I usually get home, eat

dinner and start crashing. Not fun at all.

I am also going to South Florida at the end of the month. Any travel

advice? Our " circus " is rolling into town via Minivan. I know you've

become a pro at road trips so I thought I would ask.

How are you doing? I hope better. I know you've been having a tough

time of it and want you to know that I think and pray for you often.

Thanks for being such a dear sweet friend.

Love you,

Alan

Hi Alan,

I think I've earned my honorary PhD in road trip-ology after this last

one, LOL. I do have a couple of hints. If you don't have a TV in your

back seat, the next best thing is audio books. I'm not quite sure what

the family oriented offerings are, but they make the time fly. I had

about 14 hours worth of audio books, and it saved my sanity. Costco had

the best price I was able to find.

As far as driving with RA, I've said it before but I have a power

inverter and use my heating pad and it really helps me a lot. Another

alternative is the Theracare disposable heating pads. I also have a

small ace bandage so if my hand starts hurting, I can wrap it. Make

sure you take breaks, and walk around and stretch.

With the family, I think the best advice is to keep your sense of humor

and have a good time!

Love you,

Carol

Hi Carol,

I am sure you have earned your PhD, especially with your last trip.

Yes, we have a tv with vcr and dvd player. Battling with the kids

over it is another thing. That's why God made Ambien..;)

I also have a power inverter and will being my heating pads with me.

That's a great idea. I will also take frequent breaks to stretch and

loosen up. It's nice that we are going where it's warmer. That should

help too.

Thanks again for the advice Carol. I appreciate it!

Love you,

Alan
