Guest guest
Charlotte As an alternative for warts I found that a strong decoction of Sanguinaria canadensis (you have to boil it down until you have a thick liquid remaining) painted on the skin dries by itself in a short time and stays right on the spot. If you don`t mind red patches that is. I would think the same approach with Thuja and Chelidonium would work. It also lasts for about 3 weeks in the fridge in sealed containers. I have used this (Sanguinaria) with success mainly on genital warts. You could also just add the decoction to the base cream supplied by Herbal Apothecary or Phyto of course. For the itchy bug bites, try a cream made from kava-kava. I buy a standardized tablet from Source Naturals, grind it up dissolve it in warm water and add it to a cream base. Might sound stupid but it is surprisingly effective at numbing the skin. Guest guest
Dear all, 1) I want to make up a 'paint' for warts (chelidonium and thuja Tr.). Does anyone know if there is anything that can be added to the tinctures to prevent them running on to clear skin and so that they form more of a lasting coating over the lesion? 2) I keep being asked for a soothing/healing topical remedy for very inflamed, itchy mosquito bites. There are many suggestions in various herbals but in my limited personal experience, 'Tiger Balm' seems to be the only thing that helps - but only to a limited extent. Does anyone have any tried and tested remedies? 3) With regard to Graham's comment on email replies or, 'me too's' I want to confirm that this only applies to personal communications between the replier and the original poster. Guest guest
Dear Charlotte Insect bites I use either witch hazel or ribwort plantain tincture, or a combination, and they work well for me. I find that tinctures are better than creams for this. > >
Guest guest
Dear Charlotte, I've been using an ointment I make from Borage & Ribwort Plantain for insect bites for a number of years with good results.( a friend took some to Nepal when she went on VSO & I got a letter from someone she met there asking me to send some!) Guest guest
To clarify: >3) With regard to Graham's comment on email replies or, 'me too's' I want to >confirm that this only applies to personal communications between the >replier and the original poster. It would be a shame not to be able to read >the informative replies to many of the questions asked. Scenario One Person A in message to list: " I have discovered the secret of universal happiness, and it is watching EastEnders wearing a nappy full of cold treacle " (Message OK) Person B in message to list: " You are wrong, it is standing upside down whilst having a capsicum enema " (Message OK) Person C in message to list: " You are both nuts and should be locked up " (Message OK but getting close to personal abuse). Scenario Two Person A in message to list: " I have discovered the secret of universal happiness, e-mail me at bonkers@... if you would like a copy " (Message OK) Person B in message to list: " Yes please " (NOT OK) Person C in message to list: " Me too " (DOUBLE ABSOLUTE NOT OK) Is that clear? (BTW I have no personal knowledge of anything quoted in Scenario One - honest!) Cheers Graham White B.Sc. (Herb. Med.), MNIMH.
