Start with the basics on autismanswer.com. View her DVDs. She acts

as a consultant and doesn't take new patients as her waiting list

was over 5 years(I've heard). You can order the genetic testing and

start on step one as outline on autismanswer.com and The Puzzle of

Autism book.

I also have a hard time understanding her website. However, our Dr. in Dallas follows her protocol. He has been through her seminars, etc. and understands. I just follow what he tells me to do. We've done the genetics test, then he prescribed the appropriate RNA's and supplements. The science behind it is impossible for me to understand, but I can implement if directed properly. My son has improved since we've started it two months ago. It is costly. Best to you! Stacie

How to get started with Dr Amy Yasko's protocol

Hi All,

There is just too much information on Dr Yasko's site. How am I supposed to pick up the protocol? I tried calling the phone number on the web site, nobody picks up.

Do you know, how to take an appointment with Dr Yasko, or are there other doctors that have been trained to follow Dr Yasko's protocol?

Thanks and Regards

Dr. Yasko closes her private practice in order to devote her time in research and educating parents to help their children. She no longer see any children personally. She answers questions in the chat room and provides comments via email on the test results (OAT, AA, MAP, fecal/urine/hair metal tests...) ordered via her office. Her office also has a list of doctors who purchase RNAs from them. You can call to request for the names and contact info of the doctors in your local area. But her office does not have the knowledge as how closely these doctors follow the protocol. You will need to call the doctors' offices to find out.

If you log onto the parents forum at autismanswer.com, you can start with the column named "The Basics", which contains the information such as how to read a nutrigenomic test, individual protocols, explanation of supplements, dosage, what to give and what to limit based upon the individual gene mutations, etc.

I also found that her conference DVDs as well as books very helpful.

Best of luck to you.

Hi Mohinder:

There are only a few DAN docs that follow her protocol. In my

personal opinion its far better to read and read and read on her

website and consequently be a better informed parent. I don't think

anyone can follow their child as closely as a parent can.

In treating your child for autism, I think 25% of the information

should come from doctors, 25% should come from other people, 25%

should be your own, and the last 25% should be modified, tweaked and

corrected by you for your individual unique child. Just relying on a

doctor's 25% would be a disservice to your child IMHO.

PS I have a few files that I can forward to you on Yasko if you

would email me privately.

Someone mentioned you can get a list of doctors on her website. You might try that, and if you want my doctors' name and phone number I will give it to you - just email me directly. My doctor is in Texas and we do fly to see him. Luckily we can do lots of phone consults. Stacie

Please email me directly and I'll give you his information. (smatson@...)

As to his improvements he is now saying "I want ______," which is huge for my son who has been totally nonverbal. His tantrums have not been as severe. He is much calmer, focused and alert. Less hand flapping and more eye contact. Now, the million dollar question is "what actually helped him?" because we have done LOTS of treatments. We've done all of the following over the last two years: blood tests, urine tests, hair analysis, over 20 different supplements, oral chelation, suppository chelation, ca-edta chelation, genetics testing - with supplements and RNA's, ABA therapy, speech therapy, epsom salts baths, epsom salts cream, glutathione cream, LDN, NCD. Not to mention the anti-inflamatory drugs for colitis (prednisone and Pentasa), antifungals (Nystatin and Nizorol), and two other antibacterial antibiotic drugs. So, I can't give Yasko's protocol the credit. We plan on starting HBOT this coming week. Like everyone else on this site - always looking for something we can do to help our kids!
