the blood test for celiac disease (gliadin antibody) is how i was diagnosed

no offense BJ, but I beg to differ. The blood test for Gliadin antibodies is

how i finally got a proper diagnosis. so i am living proof that there IS a

blood test that is reliable.

I had an intestinal biopsy and allergy testing done by two doctors. The

allergist wasted my time, money, and health, for nine months, and then the

gastro guy did the same thing. Both told me I did not have celiac disease … not

even mildly allergic to gluten. WRONG!

The third doc ordered a Gliadin antibody (blood) test. Gliadin is a protein,

found in wheat and other cereals, that is responsible for triggering the

symptoms of celiac disease.

If not for that blood test I would still be suffering from celiac disease .. and

i do mean suffering.

No offense taken. This is NOT something that I randomly made up; it's a fact

that a good portion of autoimmune disease patients who have Celiac had blood

anti-gliadin antibody testing that showed false negative. Consider yourself

lucky that your results helped diagnose your celiac if you, in fact, used these

tests. At the same time also understand that many others haven't been as

fortunate. There are oodles of info in studies and reputable sites that also

express this. For example, Anti-gliadin antibodies (AGA-IgG and AGA-IgA) are

no longer used to test for celiac disease due to a low level of accuracy in

people who have not yet been diagnosed. However, the Anti-Tissue

Transglutaminase (tTG-IgA) is found to have a much higher level of reliability

according to the U of Chicago Celiac Disease Center.
