I started having frequent contractions. I drank more water and voila, the contractions stopped. the same thing happened to me during my last pregnancy, when I want into labor at 6 months. Not enough water. So, for me, drinking water saved my babies' lives. Pretty great result. (also, it helps prevent or end constipation, especially during pregnancy),and I notice that when I'm pregnant or not, drinking more water gives me clearer skin - no red blotchy patches, which occurs when I don't drink enough. Guest guest
Dear Marienne, This group has not yet gotten into a discussion about water, but I agree with you that drinking a lot of water just puts a strain on the kidneys. The biochemical textbooks say that when a person drinks water, the body's homeostasis is thrown out of kilter and it tries to get back in homeostasis as soon as possible by getting rid of the water through the kidneys. People traditionally did not drink water--it was too dangersou, full of disease. But they did drink lacto-fermented or mildly alcoholic beverages. The lacto-fermented beverages quench thirst and hydrate the body so much better than water! Sally
