Guest guest
Stan, I really enjoyed the video you just posted/published. It was very interested and introduced some topics I had never really given much thought. As another parent has posted, I often heard (prior to diagnosis) comments about how " drunk " my son looked. He stumbled as he walked, often flopped his body around as though he didn't have much control, and stared into space. Luckily, thanks to many different treatments, he no longer seems to be in a constant state of inebriation. For us, this began to improve with the onset of the GFCF diet. How does the diet tie into this theory? Perhaps the grains were tainted with fungus and the removal of the grains eliminated one constant source? Or is it more chemically or biologically based? Thanks for provoking thought on this subject. Dana
Guest guest
I've seen the video. I think Stan is correct in stating there's a whole lot more to learn, however, a lot of that learning has already been done (and continues, of course). You are certainly welcome to look up anything I state here. I am not a Mycologist. I have other reasons for knowing these things. Let me run this down while it's fresh in my mind, and please forgive if I go long. I'll break this into parts, so you can just bypass the rest of it if you like. Candida and ergot alkaloids represent a very, very limited view of what happens when mycotoxins - the toxins produced by fungi - enter the human body. It's a good start, but there's much more to the story. There are over 200, 000 species of fungus known, and very few have been studied thoroughly. Those that have been studied were mainly encountered during the 1940's when the push was on to discover more usable - and marketable - antibiotics. The word "antibiotic" literally means a class of fungus known for killing off other fungus and bacteria. So, when you use antibiotics, you are using fungi. Some are beneficial, while some, like aflatoxin, have to be monitoredin the food supply. The T-2 toxin produced by fusarium is actually classed as a bioweapon by the Department of Defense. If that all sounds rather broad, consider that virtually everything which dies and decays is broken down by fungi, which love glucose for food, and compete for space and food using the built in poisons - or mycotoxins - they carry. These are potent neurotoxins. I've heard that fungi make up some 10% or better of the entire planet's biomass, so we're talking about a life form which is virtually everywhere on the planet - a totally natural and necessary part of the ecosystem. Mold, mildew, yeast, mushrooms on your pizza, antibiotics when you're sick - all fungus. You can even find Old Testament prohibitions against living with the stuff, and stories of viable spores being cultured from Egyptian tombs. A sufficient exposure to the wrong stuff can make anybody sick. A sufficient exposure to just the right stuff can save your life. But - what happens when lifestyle changes collide with people who lack the ability to generate antibodies to the stuff? It's a bit like being both gentically alcoholic and a teetotaller. Until you drink excessively, you'd never know it, and it wouldn't matter anyway. Mycotoxins are like that. As it has turned out, some 25% percent of the population is born with a genetic immune type (HLA-DR) which creates the vulnerbility. Certainly, a lot less than 25% of the population is ill, so it's probably fair to say that most people are a bit like the teetotalling alcoholic. They're fine, so they have no reason to question it. I was not one of those. The illness I encountered after being in a mold-contaminated building led me into this, and I found out I was far from being alone. My continued search for solutions eventually led me here. I won't get into the whole story here, but there are some physicians who've been hot on the the trail of this stuff for some years now. It's a fascinating story of coincidences, accidents, and dicoveries all on its own. More in a sec.... __________________________________________________
