If you can't smell, you can't taste, and if something is wrong with smell (nose is stuffed up due to allergies, etc) it could certainly throw off the sense of taste. Guest guest
Welcome to the group ! There are some very nice people here. You mention you have birds. Almost every Doctor that I have been too regarding my asthma, said birds are the worst of all animals, for people with breathing problems. While I don't have birds, I can certainly understand you not wanting to part with them, as I have 3 Chihuahuas and I could never part with them either but I'm sure that they do contribute to my problems somewhat. That brings me to wondering how many people on this list, who have asthma, also have pets of some kind, and if so, what kind, and if it has made any difference to their health and breathing problems......Dot <<<<I all so have severalallergies--dust mites, trees, dogs and cats. I am a professional birdtrainer and birds are dusty, but there is no way I could ever give up myprofession. The birds are just too important and helping educate peopleabout them is my platform. _________________________________________________IncrediMail - Email has finally evolved - Click Here
Guest guest
I have a cat and have had two cats most of the time. I'm no worse with them and don't test positive with pet dander. I do suffer the most from trees, flowers, grass etc. Cat dander comes from their saliva as they lick their fur and we pet them--thus it seems to cause most of the problems with people who are allergic. Washing your hands after petting the animal may help. Sorry, I don't know about birds but the same may apply. I would never get rid of my pet(s)--I would rather take shots and try to keep my hands very clean after touching them. Good luck! Re: Intro Welcome to the group ! Guest guest
I totally agree! I'd never give up my pets either. The first thing my allergy specialist asked me was if I had any pets. When I told him I had 3 small dogs and I wasn't about to get rid of them, he didn't seem all that concerned. I guess he's used to hearing that. For me anyway, it's smog, dust, mold, dairy products and smoke that really affects me......Dot -- Re: Intro I have a cat and have had two cats most of the time. Guest guest
I have 4 cats and one dog. The irony is that I acquired two of my cats because their owner was allergic to them. Those two cats were absolutely heartbroken to be separated from their owner and almost died of the heart break - one didn't eat for about a month. She is the one who has the most fur loss at certain times. I have problems with assessing what my allergies are. Last time the weeds and grass was cut in my garden I sneezed all day - it was cut again today and I didn't have any reaction -but I've been taking medication. I think it depends on the way the wind is blowing and how my immune system is. I have not been working for two months and the rest has really helped my immune system and the lack of stress has probably helped my asthma. I actually feel like my pets contribute so much to my life that they neutralize what the problems are with litter box smells and other issues. Since I have been walking my dog more my asthma has also got better but I still have it and watch my symptoms really carefully all the time to make sure it does not get out of hand. Not being able to breathe is the scariest thing I have ever experienced. > >Reply-To: asthma >To: <asthma > >Subject: Re: Intro >Date: Wed, 4 Jul 2001 12:45:05 -0400 > >I have a cat and have had two cats most of the time. Guest guest
Welcome Christi! I have been married for 12 years, work part-time from home doing chiropractic medical transcription which has been more full-time lately, have three girls that are very emotional and two angelfish. (I wish I could say dogs! I grew up around dogs, so I really could use a dog to snuggle and play with. My little ones are too young for a dog yet, they would drive it crazy. Friends put their dogs away when my little ones are near, so I have seen it first hand.) I made the doctor's take me off meds almost two years ago, against their recommendations, and the struggle does gets easier : ) More than we wanted to know? Nope, we are inquisitive. PJ told us that " we are 'allowed' to talk as long and as much as we want. " So, please take full advantage of it, I intend to! Again, Welcome! I really don;t know what to say by way of introducing myself. I am married, work full time on the evening shift at a convenience store, have 2 children, a very volatile daughter who is a senior this year & an almost 16 year old son. I have 2 Belgian Sheepdogs and my daughter has one Belgian & a Chinese Crested so we have a full house. I try to keep things positive but I'm surrounded by so much negativity at my job & at home that it is difficult. I have been diagnosed with clinical depression but my doctor left town almost a year ago & the medication was affecting training my dogs so I am now off the meds but still struggling. OK, so more than anyone wanted to know. So far what i've seen of this group is wonderful. Christi
Guest guest
Hi Christi, And Welcome, sorry I'm a little late. You know how it is working, doing, and then getting a cold on top of that. Oh well, Lets not think about that. I just wanted to tell you what I think, (that and .25 won't even get you on the subway) LOL we say that in New York. Anyway, I'm the grandmother here so far and I always have to put my 2 cents in, So I will, I think you should check out the doctors and get somemore anti depressants as soon as you can. Everything else is second compared to that. You know you will feel better when you aren't so depressed. I suffer from the same thing. It is much easier to handle things when you don't feel so down. Ok, that was my two cents, I hope it makes you feel better. A lot of people are taking anti-depressants these days especially this time of the year. Its ok just make sure you don't run out. I am guilty of this too. In fact I am almost out now. So, welcome again and cheer up. There is always help around all you have to do is ask. Guest guest
Welcome ! I know you will enjoy your time on affirmations. The people are wonderful here...I just can't get enough of them LOL Susie, I like your signature line...perfect! Hugs...Nola Hi Michele, Welcome to the group. I hope you enjoy your stay here. You might want to wander through the old messages as you find time. There is a lot of great stuff in there. I'm glad you are doing better than you were. Susie ***When you change your perception, you change your reality*** Hello everyone ~ Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Michele. I've been reading/living/studying Louise L. Hay's book, " You Can Heal Your Life " for years now... it was given to me as a gift by my mother & the first copy got so raggedy that I had to buy a second <may be needing a third soon>. I recently had an enormous amount of stress in my life... so bad that I went on medication & into therapy. Therapy did not help me much, however. What helped me was getting out my " YCHYL " book again & doing my affirmations. (I had tucked it away in my bookshelf -- BIG MISTAKE -- LOL!) I'm starting to feel really good again & want to keep up w/ it. What better way that to search for a group who believes as I do??? Looking forward to meeting you all Luv, Michele

Guest guest
Hi all, Sinus infections were a constant for me, until several years ago when I started using non-medicated saline nose spray nightly. I have not taken antibiotics for a sinus infection since I started this routine. As a side benefit, I can't remember the last time I got a cold! For anyone dealing with sinus infections, saline spray is definitely worth a try! Guest guest
Hi everyone, I have been reading your messages with a lot of interest!! This seems to be a great group - just what I've been looking for. My name is and I live in Alabama with my husband of a little over 5 years and my 3 yr. old precious angel daughter. I also have a 20 yr. old son that lives with his father in another state. My 3 yr. old was a BIG surprise at my age - but she has truly been my salvation! Right now I am in the worst circumstances that I have ever been in. And your uplifting messages have meant a lot. My husband and I left Florida a little over two months ago and moved back to Alabama (its supposed to be " home " for me, but I don't feel at home even here anymore)! We quit our jobs - his health is bad - and our plan was for me to find a job and he would stay home with our 3 yr. old while he recuperated and we got back on our feet. Well, the " plan " hasn't worked at all. I've not been able to find a job here and now all the savings are gone. Everything did seem to go good at first - but now I'm desperate to find a job! I've tried to stay positive (though I'm having a hard time - fighting feelings of bitterness mostly). Finding help has been almost impossible. I guess I just need some encouragement. I have learned a lot of lessons during this time and I try to see everyday how we've been blessed. What affirmations should I be using? I have a lot of guilt over, once again, making a mistake and doing the wrong thing. My child is suffering, my whole family is suffering, all because of me and my plans that haven't worked out. I'm truly not whining new friends, just trying to fight my way out of this and find some understanding (and answers!). I know the universe is at work - and I'm just a speck here - but I need to find some good out of all of this. Smiles from Alabama,
Guest guest
Susie, Thank you for that uplifting email!! I do not have any kind of " support group " here that is why I have turned to the internet. Wonderful thing, the internet! Can I ask you how you handle your affirmations? Do you say them over and over, repeat them in your head during the day, write them over and over? I know that I have a lot of core beliefs that are unfounded and just plain untrue. Things I was taught as a child - it has been so hard to rid myself of these. I don't remember the one that wrote and ask the questions about the tithes - but I was taught from an early age if I didn't go to church and pay my tithes, I would die and go to hell. It's things like this - so many other things!! I won't even take my little girl to church because I don't want her taught these things. Although I miss church, its just the social aspect I miss. I am trying to find my own way spiritually now. Not doing real good at it - but trying anyway! Please, I don't want any of you to think I'm needing pity. But what do you do when you've run out of options - I don't even know what different choices to make! I'm truly at a loss here. Guest guest
Theresa, Boy if anyone can sympathize with you on that job situation THIS group certainly can! These wonderful people took me in when my wings were broken and mended me, had faith in me and gave me back my wings so I could FLY once again! I have the utmost respect for your situation and I KNOW things WILL be better soon for you. If you don't mind, I would like to send you (off the list) a bunch of online jobs that may help you until you can get on your feet again. Just send me an offline at alonenterprises@... and I will certainly help. Lots of Hugs...Nola -- Re: Intro Hi everyone, I have been reading your messages with a lot of interest!! I have a lot of guilt over, once again making a mistake and doing the wrong thing.
