Happy New Year to you too and I wanted to tell you what Genie wrote

in a post awhile back about antidepressants. Of course it's your

choice what you pefer to take but here's what she said about them (I

think it was post #1381:

Zoloft belongs to a class of drugs known as SSRI's (Selective

Seratonin

Reuptake Inhibitors) and includes; Prozac, Paxil, Celexa, Lexapro,

etc..

Many patients with thyroid disease cannot tolerate any SSRI's.

I know I tried to take Zoloft, and other antidepressants after being

dx'd with Hashi's and I just could not tolerate them at all. I felt

awful, had skin and hair crawlies, had the shakes and yawning at the

same time, just felt really bad and that was while I was still on

the initial half dose for two weeks. Usually, they have you take a

half the first week then go to a full dose the next week. I

couldn't even tolerate a half of the lowest dosage of any of them.

I am on an antidepressant now but I only take it at night. It's

called Remeron and is used off label as a sleep aide and boy, it

works great for me and I didn't ever have any of the symptoms like I

had from Zoloft, Paxil, Celexa, etc.

Genie once suggested to others, that have panic attacks that getting

something like Ativan, Xanax, or even Valium, for panic attacks

instead of using an antidepressant. If you search around message

#1381 and Genie's posts, you'll be able to find out alot of good

information from her.
